BioWare Details Mass Effect 3 Co-Op, “Galaxy at War”
Yesterday, we confirmed what we all knew was coming to Mass Effect 3: playing alongside with your pals. Now Bioware’s going all out on the information, and they put up a handy post in their forums to clear some things up. Here’s what we got:
- Rather than the CoD-type of multiplayer we were fearing, the multiplayer is strictly co-op for up to four players. In the “Galaxy at War” mode, players will partake on missions around the galaxy, completing story missions and “liberating key territories from enemy control”.
- Saves from the previous two games don’t affect anything in co-op play.
- Progess in co-op will affect single player via the “Galactic Readiness” system. Completing these missions will help the galaxy in the fight against the Reapers.
- Each platform may have their own version of Galaxy at War, but nothing’s been confirmed.
All of this sounds pretty awesome to me so far. I’m glad they’re keeping this strictly co-op, otherwise things would break fast. Are you going to give this a shot?
Mass Effect 3 ASSUMES DIRECT CONTROL on March 6 for the 360, PS3, and PC. No word yet on if there’ll be a beta or a demo, but here’s hoping that there is. The Reapers won’t be defeated if there’s hit detection and internet issues.
