Dead Island Bloodbath Arena DLC Release Date Announced
Despite all of Dead Island‘s technical flaws that made it, in my eyes, a broken game (for heaven’s sake, in my first playthrough I encountered a bug where I couldn’t get to the next mission on the main quest line because a dialogue option failed to pop up), I still felt it was decently fun and well worth the $2.18 I spent at the local Redbox. Had I been of the financial situation where I’m not sequestered to eating canned chili and ramen for two weeks every time I buy a videogame, I would’ve probably paid the full retail price for the game.
If you happened to enjoy Dead Island or are a gigantic zombie fan, you’ll probably be happy to hear that the Bloodbath Arena DLC is going to be released on the 22nd, for $9.99 or 800 MSP. If you purchased the special edition Dead Island, you’ll get this DLC for free.
The DLC features up to four player co-op in a horde-mode type game. Everything you earn in the DLC will be carried back into the main campaign to blow up your ego.
Also here’s the original press release, I thought it was a pretty entertaining read, along with four new screenshots:
Anyway, we wanted to let you know that FINALLY the DLC gods have smiled upon us and we have a release date for Dead Island Bloodbath Arena to share with you! It was a joyous occasion when this release date came about – a thing of legend, really. Zombies worldwide actually stopped what they were doing, I mean literally right in the middle of devouring hypothalamuses (hypothalami?) and all, and started dancing the Mamushka, Addams Family style.
So what is this Bloodbath Arena, you say? It’s a pack of four arenas that can be played either alone (srsly?) or in up to 4 player co-op with waves and waves of zombies hunting you down for their next meal. :D On top of that, all the XP points, items and gold that are gathered while playing in Bloodbath Arena can be carried back over into the main game campaign. Oh, and of course for ultimate zombie killing bragging rights, there will be leaderboards with Bloodbath as well, so that you can be like me and go around talking shit about how you are THE best Dead Island player in the universe and then check the leaderboard and get a massive gunshot right to the temple when one of your friends has a score that you have NO idea how the fuck he got it but you and your ego are tremendously irritated about it regardless.
So I know you can’t wait for this! Bloodbath Arena will be released on November 22 – next week! – and will be available as a free download with the token included for those who preordered the Special Edition from GameStop or for $9.99/800MSP to folks who didn’t preorder the Special Edition.
