Modern Warfare 3 has shat all over Skyrim‘s successful launch by selling $775 million worldwide in just five days.

Bobby Kotick, Activision Blizzard’s CEO, said:

With $775 million of sales of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in its first five days, Call of Duty has become the first entertainment property in history to set five-day launch records for three consecutive years across all forms of entertainment. Call of Duty is one of the most valuable entertainment properties in the world.

the only reason i say this is a fanboy article is because this is a game released in less then a month after 2 blockbuster games, BF3 and MW3, both of which are huge multiplayer games and skyrim still pulls these sales records.

The fact that a single player game can pull the 2nd highest (if not highest) release sales after 2 huge games before it is incredible news. As far as i know its never happened before, and the best part is the digital downloads for skyrim is still unkown until they release them.

If skyrim doesn’t beat MW3, the real story is how close they are pulling to the same sales. I don’t believe in counting your winnings before the game is done.

It doesn’t really matter if skyrim ‘beats’ mw3 in sales, does it? I didn’t expect it to even get close. It’s good to read that so many people bought skyrim though. It’s a game no gamer should miss.

I think mw3 is bought mostly by a different audience. I hear them bragging about their ‘skillzz’ and imaginitive k/d ratio everywhere I go. I can’t imagine them playing skyrim.
