LoTRO to Begin Selling Low Level PvE Gear via Store
In what is sure to spark a debate about the slippery slope to a ‘pay-to-win’ mentality, Turbine has announced that The Lord of The Rings Online will soon begin to sell lower level PvE armor through the LoTRO Store.
When LoTRO originally shifted to an free-to-play format, it was announced that the stat gear would not be sold, and while one-off stat boosting tomes have been available for purchase for some time, this marks the first instance of players being able to simply purchase PvE ready gear.
The armor sets come in light, medium and heavy varieties and offer the option to purchase chest pieces, leg wear and boots. In addition, boots come with an 8% out of combat speed buff.
A thread on the LoTRO forums is already discussing what (if any) ramifications this decision will have upon the player base.
What do you think? Is selling PvE gear a move that will benefit or cripple LoTRO (or perhaps have no discernible effect at all)?
