It seems like Capcom isn’t going to rest when it comes to fighting games. Their newest fighter – Street Fighter X Tekken – is nearing completion but now it seems that they’re already planning what their next fighting game project will be. If a recent filing by Capcom is to be believed, Darkstalkers might be next on Yoshinori Ono’s plate.

Darkstalkers, also known as Vampire: The Night Warriors in Asia and Japan, was a 2D fighter that was popular back in the 90s. The game spawned two sequels and saw its last major release way back in 1997. Now, a trademark filing from Capcom Japan has been unearthed and speculation is running wild that Capcom is indeed working on another Darkstalkers sequel or possibly a reboot.

Of course this isn’t confirmation that a new Darkstalkers game is indeed being worked on, but why would Capcom register a new trademark for it in the first place if they weren’t working on it?

Do you think there’s room for another 2D fighter? What would you want to see in a new Darkstalkers game?
