Last night Sony released an optional system software update for the PlayStation 3. The key word on update 4.11 is that it is optional.
Information gleaned from the US PlayStation Blog points to this is a minor firmware update that, “improves certain aspects of system software, and is not mandatory to connect to PSN.”
Sure, the language is very vague. Because it is optional and close to the release date of the PS Vita, some have speculated it could be for Vita Connectivity.
