Sony Boss Would be Distracted by PS4 News in 2012

If you were hoping for a PlayStation 4 reveal or announcement at this year’s E3, don’t hold your breath. Jack Tretton, SCEA CEO and President weighed in on the matter and it doesn’t look like a reveal will be happening… not this year, at least.
In terms of when you talk about [the next generation] and when you announce it, it really depends on the health of the existing platform and the other things you have going on…And right now, we’re focused on PlayStation 3, and I’ve got another platform (PlayStation Vita) to get out the door in seven days, so I don’t want to be thinking about trying to launch new technology anytime soon. I want to focus all our energy on our console business, which is really just hitting its stride, and Vita, which really deserves a dedicated push from us
Tretton finished it off by saying, “I, quite frankly, would be very distracted if I had to be talking about next generation hardware this year.” Distracted, huh? I’m guessing Sony will be “un-distracted” rather quickly once Microsoft announces their next-gen offering… whenever that may be.
Do you think it’s time for the PS4 or should we squeeze a couple of more years out of the current consoles before moving on?
