Guild Wars 2 to Remove Queuing Issues with Unique System

ArenaNet is taking a unique approach to the age old problem of queuing in MMO’s, utilizing what they term an ‘overflow’ server to redirect players when their usual servers reach capacity in Guild Wars 2.

Community Team Lead Martin Kerstein dropped by the Guild Wars 2 Guru forums to explain how the overflow server works, pointing out that when a world or map you wish to access is full, the game will ask you if you wish to play on an overflow server instead. This way, you can play the game while remaining in the queue to your chosen destination, and once space becomes available, you’ll be able to join your guildmates and friends on your usual server, while retaining progress made on the overflow server.

The overflow system certainly seems like a worthwhile way to alleviate the frustration of sitting in a queue when you’d much rather be playing your character. You can read more about Guild Wars 2 over at the official website.
