If you were expecting an Uncharted game for the PlayStation Vita that’s made by Naughty Dog or an all-new IP made specifically for the portable, then you’re out of luck… at least for the time being.

Arne Meyer, Naughty Dog’s community strategist has revealed that the studio currently has no plans to develop for Sony’s next-gen handheld. Meyer answered the assumption from NeoGaf that the developer was indeed working on something – what with them being a Sony exclusive developer and all.

We’re not working on anything for PS Vita…I won’t say never, ever, but there’s no plans for it right now – we’ve always felt that consoles play to our strengths as a studio the best

Meyer explained this further and stressed that the developer’s forte is in console development.

I hate to sound like a treading the line spin-meister here, but I’ve said that traditionally consoles have played to our strengths – and desires to push the utmost limit of resources and memory, our tech and engine.
That can change with the right handheld, as why I said I won’t ever say “never” but we hadn’t encountered that yet – that’s why Jak TLF wasn’t an internal project for us.

Of course, we’re just in the Vita’s infancy and we never know; as Meyer said, they’re not saying “never,” just “not right now.”

What would you want to see Naughty Dog do with the PlayStation Vita? Would you rather they developer their own IP for the portable or make an all-new entry for one of their existing franchises?
