Basketball fans will have a choice later this year, it seems. Electronic Arts will officially be bringing its NBA Live label back from the dead to do battle with 2K Sports’ highly-successful NBA2k basketball franchise.

It’s worth noting that EA tried to make an all new NBA franchise called NBA Elite, which turned out to be a disaster. If you don’t believe me, just watch this clip. Its demo was universally panned by sports fans and gamers alike. In a rather bold move by EA, the publisher decided to recall every copy sent to retailers due to its shoddy reception. Needless to say, EA lost a ton of money in the process.

The game, which will be titled NBA Live 13, will ship this Fall; presumably for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. It hasn’t been mentioned by the publisher which in-house developer will be making the game.

Any basketball fan excited for this or is NBA2K the only basketball game you need?
