New Video Game Releases: Feb 27 – Mar 4

For an end of February release week, you really can’t complain.  A strong list of varied releases mark the change of season from winter to spring.

Arguably the most high profile release of the week is the return of EA’s snowboarding classic . SSX will use a variety of real-world mountains, including the Himalayas and Antarctic. Gameplay will include more than simple snowboarding tricks with helicopter drops, avalanches, and the use of wingsuits. SSX hits the slopes this week on the PS3 and Xbox 360.

 is a squad-based, third-person shooter developed by the newly formed Yakuza Studio and published by Sega.  Players will be put in the middle of a fast paced and intense battle for humanity in a robot-invaded 2080 Tokyo.  Binary Domain becomes available on PS3 and Xbox 360.

For those of you who were waiting for the Komplete Edition of Mortal Kombat, that time has arrived.    includes every add-on pack to date including four additional characters and 15 bonus character skins.  ’Test Your Might’ as it becomes available this week on Xbox 360 and PS3.

Expect a handheld hiatus as both the 3DS and newly released PS Vita reload, but anticipate the battle to continue next week.

Pick of the Week: When the original SSX debuted nearly twelve years ago it was fresh, fun and had groundbreaking graphics.  With exaggerated jumps, highly decorated mountain runs, over-the-top characters, flashy effects, and improbable tricks made it an ideal introduction to the EA Sports BIG brand.  While some may argue the SSX series has gotten stale, SSX (2012)  is doing everything it can to bring the series back to previous heights – SSX
