Well, that and Kickstarter.

While doing a reddit AMA yesterday, Leisure Suit Larry creator Al Lowe was asked how he thinks the point and click adventure genre can be revitalized.  This was his reply:

“I think touch screens will be the saving grace for point and clicks. When you can actually point at things, instead of mousing around, you’ll find the game much more responsive. I also look forward to using motion sensing in some new and creative ways. (Read into that what you will!)”

I’m inclined to agree with Al.  Even a recent adventure game such as Telltale’s Jurassic Park was way better on iPad than PC.  When it comes to pointing and clicking, I have to say that being able to actually point and make things “click” just makes the experience that much better.  Add in the gorgeous screens available on today’s tablet devices and you’ve got the perfect platform for all your adventuring needs.

With Double Fine’s Adventure, Leisure Suit Larry 1 Reloaded, and the upcoming efforts from Telltale and others, I thnk it’s safe to say we’re in for quite the adventure game renaissance!  Now we just need Lucas Arts to get in on the action and give us HD remakes of The Dig and Grim Fandango
