Oh, Roadhouse Interactive and A.C.R.O.N.Y.M. Games, you are such teases.

After speaking with members of the team last week, we came away with our hype meters fully engaged for MechWarrior Tactics. The free-to-play approach mixed with standard CCG tropes and board game sensibilities speaks to ever nerdy bone in my gamer body. Now, they’ve decided to taunt us once more with the first look at the game in action. Sure, it’s only 30 seconds long, but from the clip you can clearly get a sense of how the systems are going to work.

You’ll see commander orders played out simultaneously, as players will have to react to not only what has happened before, but what they think their opponent is going to do. As units execute their prescribed instructions, poor planning will lead you to firing into the ether or walking headlong into an alpha strike. I don’t need to tell you how that’s going to end up, do I?

You can check out the brief clip below along with a batch of new screenshots.

This game can’t arrive soon enough.
