This morning, Bethesda announced that their supernatural assassin title, Dishonored, would be sneaking out of the shadows on October 9, 2012.

Arkane Studios, the developer at the helm of the project, is best known for their work on Dark Messiah of Might and Magic and for their assistance with animation and art on Bioshock 2.

The title is inching ahead of another major title focused on the killing of bad people with pointy objects, Assassin’s Creed III, which arrives on October 30. Unlike Ubisoft’s popular franchise, Dishonored doesn’t take place in a realistic setting, drawing in elements of mysticism with a heavy coat of steampunk paint. We haven’t yet had the chance to get our hands on the title, but all of that is going to change at E3. Stay tuned for our hands-on impressions from the show floor when we travel to Los Angeles next month.
