Feel free to shoot me at this point. I’m currently Diablo III-obsessed. How can I not be? I decided to run around at 3 AM last night getting my copy signed by 150 developers from Blizzard. My brain’s so addled from lack of sleep that I feel like I’m in some sort of weird, euphoric Diablo III-induced heaven.

If you’ve tried to get into Diablo III at this moment, I’m sorry to say that it’s down, once again. Now, hold back the “Error 37″ joke for now. Blizzard’s intentionally taken servers down for maintenance in order to patch a few issues. Blizzard Community Manager Nethaera posted the following on the forums:

We are in the process of performing an emergency maintenance for all Diablo III servers to resolve several issues that are currently impacting the game. This maintenance may cause some interruption in communication, ability to log in, use of in-game features, and disconnections. We anticipate all servers will be available for play in approximately 1 hour.

Thank you for your patience.

It’s only for one measly hour. Do you think you can make it until then without a dose of Diablo III?

Update 11:42 AM: Blizzard’s just posted an update stating that the maintenance will be extended to 1:30 PM PDT:

11:30 a.m. PDT- We are in the process of performing an emergency maintenance for Diablo III servers in the Americas to resolve several issues that are currently impacting the game. This maintenance may cause some interruption in communication, ability to log in, use of in-game features, and disconnections. We anticipate all servers will be available for play at approximately 1:30 p.m. PDT. We will provide further updates as necessary. Thank you for your patience.

Update 2:16 PM: I tried logging into Diablo III. Looks like Blizz was just a little too ambitious with how quickly they were going to do server maintenance. The game is expected to back online 3:30p.m. PDT… although I’m going to just say that at this point, it’s probably time to go find something else to occupy your time.
