Despite some gameplay flaws and questionable gameplay physics, the original Scribblenauts was a fun and engaging game that first saw the light of day on the Nintendo DS. At Nintendo’s E3 2012 press conference, among many A-list titles confirmed for the 3DS and the upcoming Wii U console, the return of the Scribblenauts series has been confirmed. Scribblenauts Unlimited, a brand new game from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, aims to move the series forward by utilizing the unique features of both the Wii U and the 3DS.
The original Scribblenauts offered a platforming experience that incorporated the ability for players to draw things into the environment, adding a level of interactivity that was unique at the time. Scribblenauts Unlimited brings back the main character Max, and ths time you learn more about his backstory, his family and how the magic notepad came into being. The game is a side-scrolling adventure with an open-world feel, containing high-definition scenery and hand-drawn background and objects, and you once again have the freedom to draw in objects to aid you in solving puzzles and progresing through the game.
Scribblenauts Unlimited takes gameplay a step further by integrating the Wii U controller to allow the player to create objects using the touch screen, as well as using other functionalitys of the unique controller to enhance gameplay. Similar abilities being employed in the 3DS version as well, and while game will also be released on the PC, the peripherals that will be supported have yet to be announced.
