In a bold move, Ubisoft has given up the head start they had assigned to Far Cry 3 with it’s previous September 4, 2012 date. The title is now slated for December 4, 2012 in North America. By that point in the year, major releases have typically slowed to a trickle, which could be a benefit. The only danger is if gamers are sitting with a mountain of unplayed titles and simply don’t want one more.

This puts more pressure on Ubisoft to deliver a high quality game, but also means that Far Cry 3 will likely stand out during a period that is typically quiet. If you’re interested in how the cooperative multiplayer is shaping up, you can read our preview from E3.
