It seems advertisers are starting to catch on that video games are actually kind of popular. Nike has released a new advertisement inspired by a few Mario games and… that game in which you fight a television monster? We are seeing plenty of advertisements integrated into games, but we are seeing very few television ads really clicking with our community.

I’m not sure this one is all there yet, but there is definitely something behind the spot. As with any product push, you can tell Nike did some homework without going full bore. I imagine they are trying to keep it understandable to those that didn’t grow up with Mario and Jump Man. Regardless of how close or far they may be from the mark, the video is fairly entertaining. Hopefully it’s a sign of companies understanding that the new buying generation grew up playing video games, and still do.
