After four years, popular XBLA game Castle Crashers is coming to PC via Steam. Inspired by the ancient muses, lead designer/artist/modern bard Dan Paladin of The Behemoth included a poem in the release information:

While BattleBlock has been churning,
there’s another wheel turning!
And that wheel is Castle Crashers running on Steam!

It was accomplished by utilizing one of our programming teams!
We always liked this platform so it’s kind of a dream!

I’d say a release date but the future’s unknown.
If I make a mistake I shall never atone.

If you’re in Germany this weekend please say hi to John.
He is at Gamescom.

The game that first appeared in XBLA’s premiere Summer of Arcade event in 2008 along with Braid, Bionic Commando: Rearmed, Galaga Legions, and Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 is a 2D side-scrolling, beat em’ up with light RPG elements and a plethora of characters. The Steam version will include both local and online multiplayer, gamepad support, Steam achievements and Steam Cloud.

While no release date has been announced, the game is currently being shown at Gamescom running on PC, so it can’t be too far off. For those who’ve not seen the game in action, here’s the trailer for console version:
