As gamers, the one thing we love as much as playing video games is reading about them. Several books have been published about various Nintendo franchises over the years, but with a series as beloved as The Legend of Zelda, there is always room for one more. In 2011, a terrific book titled The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia was released exclusively in Japan. With no immediate word on a North American release, fans either had import it or wait in hope for a localized version. Thankfully, Dark Horse Books has seen the light and they have just confirmed that this amazing book will be coming to the west in 2013.

For those unfamiliar, The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia is a 274 page book that delves into the entire history of the Zelda series. This includes previously unseen concept art, behind-the-scenes details on the development of the games and in-depth information on each individual title in the series. The English translation will be faithful to its Japanese counterpart, save for some “minor tweaks” that are as yet unspecified. Of particular interest to fans is an official timeline, which provides a proper chronology for the entire series, and an exclusive introduction by series creator Shigeru Miyamoto. All presented in a stylish hardcover book , The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia is bound to be both a treat and a collectible for any Zelda fan.

The projected release date is January 29, 2013 in the United States and Canada, at the suggested retail price of $34.99. Dark Horse Books has also confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia will be released in the UK, parts of Europe and Australia, however the exact release date and listing price has yet to be confirmed.
