Final Fantasy Dimensions was released in 2010 on mobile phones in Japan, much to the dismay of North American fans of the franchise. Well, good things come to those who wait (or so they tell me) and Final Fantasy Dimensions is now available in the Americas on the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. The opening chapter, Prologue, can be downloaded for free through the iTunes store.

When Dimensions was released in Japan, the 2-D throwback amassed over a million downloads. Boasting a classic story of light, darkness, crystals, and silly haircuts, Final Fantasy Dimensions delivers the best Final Fantasy has to offer directly to your smartphone. The iOS version features updated graphics and a refined soundtrack from composer Naoshi Mizuta.

Final Fantasy Dimensions is available now. The first chapter is $2.99, chapters 2 – 4 are $9.99 each, or you can have the whole thing for $28.99 – a savings of around four dollars. It’s quite pricey for a smartphone game, but we’ll see how sales do here in North America.
