I’m not fond of live action trailers for video games, but that’s what the next entry in the Call of Juarez game has received. Let’s watch it and do a little speculation afterwards:

Going under the name Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, we know that the game will be a downloadable title and return to the old west theme after Call of Juarez: The Cartel went to modern day. As someone who mildly enjoyed Call of Juarez: Bound In Blood and is a fan of the 19th century western America in general, the latter point is an encouraging fact. While the moving from full retail to download may show a lack of faith in the series’ selling power, Ubisoft has been doing some interesting (if not always successful) things in that space. I Am Alive, Outland, From Dust, and re-releasing Beyond Good And Evil are few examples. Perhaps not being tied to a boxed release will allow developer Techland to do something different that makes people excited about the series. What would you want to see?

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger will come to XBLA, PSN, and Windows come early 2013.
