I am absurdly excited for what Ubisoft has in store for the Assassin’s Creed series this year. The franchise has always been ambitious, maturing over four core entries on consoles throughout this generation. The handheld titles have been companions, but never really told their own story. That all changes on October 30 when the first female Assassin, Aveline, leaps onto the scene in Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation. (Yes, that’s the exact same day as ACIII)
Taking place in Louisiana just before the start of the American Revolution, Liberation promises to provide the same experience we’ve come to love but in portable form. Based on what we’ve seen so far, the team has done a fantastic job of differentiating this protagonist from Altaïr, Ezio and Connor. Her weapons, movement and background are extremely interesting, and we have high hopes for the series’ first appearance on the PlayStation Vita.
You can learn a little more about Aveline and her adventure in this new developer diary.
