Have I mentioned how much I love it when the gaming industry comes together to do unequivocally good things? No? OK. I love when the gaming industry comes together to do unequivocally good things. One such event is Ümloud!, an annual Rock Band night that raises money for the Child’s Play charity.

This year, the folks at Ümloud have hooked a perfect MC for the event, which will take place on December 5, 2012, at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco. Tim Schafer, President and CEO of Double Fine Productions, will be on hand to introduce the participating bands and offer up some of his trademark humor. His work on Brutal Legend makes this an absolutely wonderful fit, as he is no doubt versed in the ways of rocking and rolling.

If you have a band and want to participate, there are only a few slots remaining. Head on over to www.umloud.org, pony up your $200 entrance fee and get ready to rock. You’ll even be able to bring along 10 fans (even though we totally know you have way more than that). If you’re just interested in attending and watching these groups all try to out-Green Grass and High Tides each other, you can nab tickets ($10 in advance, $15 at the door) at www.dnalounge.com.

Additionally, since this is a charity event, you can head over to the Ümloud! website and make a donation. It’s a great cause and sounds like a fantastic night of fun. Whether you are a master of the plastic axe, simply want to thrash to the wittiest names in the Rock Band-verse or live on the other side of the country and want to help make a child’s holiday wishes come true, you can find out more at www.umloud.com or follow them on Twitter @Umloud.
