Let’s continue today’s first-person, horror game trailer trend with Routine. It was announced this last Gamescom, and it’s a first-person horror game that takes place in spaaaaaaaace (pronounced with warbling, spooky tone). Here it be:
There’s a lot of things to love about this trailer. First is the opening, with an airy synth tag that and screen tear that makes it look like a 1970’s infomercial for a company. Second, the flying through the tableau of a violent scene without quite saying what caused the violence is brilliant. Third, that pink, broken logo again gives an anachronistic impression that this game takes place in a different era. Fourth, floppy disks- because in space, no one can hear your drive click.
The game has no release date other than “2013,” but it has been greenlit by the Steam community, so it’s at least coming to PCs at some point.
