Bethesda Softworks released new details on the upcoming expansion pack for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Subtitled “Dragonborn,” it will give players the opportunity to travel to Solstheim, a large island lying in the waters between Skyrim and Morrowind, to face their deadliest adversary yet – the first Dragonborn.
As veterans of The Elder Scrolls series have probably noted, Solstheim previously appeared in the Bloodmoon expansion pack for the venerable The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. As such, revisiting the island in Skyrim will mean a return of old friends. The Raven Rock settlement has been confirmed as returning (and quite a bit more developed since the Nerevarine aided in its development), as is the House Redoran with their signature bonemold armor, the Skaal, chitin armors and stalhrim weapons, rieklings, netches and ash creatures. The add-on will also introduce new elements, such as a previously unseen Daedric realm, dragon shouts and spells and more. We’ve thrown together a quick comparison shot of how Bethesda is reinterpreting the unique visual style of native Dunmer in “Dragonborn”:
