If you were really looking forward to committing a ton of virtual vehicular manslaughter this spring, you’re going to be disappointed. Citing the need for extra time to make sure the game is polished enough “to be of the standard we, and more importantly, you, require,” Rockstar Games has officially pushed the upcoming Grand Theft Auto V out of its spring release window, moving it instead to the fall. The development team assures fans that the game will be well worth the wait, calling it a “massively ambitious and complex game.” Founder of Rockstar, Sam Houser, went so far as to call Grand Theft Auto V the studio’s “deepest, most beautiful and most immersive world yet.” If you were trying to make the delay easier on us, Sammy old boy, you’re not doing a very good job of it.
Though Rockstar apologized on their website, there are still a wealth of comments that are clearly extremely dissatisfied with the news. Personally, I’ve never had a problem with a developer pushing a game back to polish it up a little more, as long as the final product is worth the extra wait. I’ll be looking forward to picking this one up when it drops on September 17th. The game is currently set for release only on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with no confirmation yet as to the existence of a version for either the Wii U or the PC.
