Well, it looks like DuckTales isn’t the only older Disney game getting a chance at modern audiences. Sega has announced that Sega Australia is working on a reimagined Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse. Sega Brand Manager Mai Kawaguchi- speaking through the Playstation Blog- notes that the game will include ideas that weren’t possible to implement in the original due to technical limitations. In addition, Sega’s strategy is
“to deliver a fully reimagined experience that takes advantage of the power of PS3 with all new graphics and new adventures, while at the same time making sure that the game maintains the Disney magic that the original Castle of Illusion captured in 1990.”
Though Kawaguchi only mentions the PlayStation 3, it has been confirmed that the downloadable title will also be available through XBLA and on Windows. Here’s the accompanying reveal trailer:
Castle of Illusion comes to PlaysStation 3, Xbox 360, and Windows this summer.
