Hey, remember that Rainbow Six game that Ubisoft teased back in 2011? Whatever happened to that? Well, speaking with IGN, Ubisoft’s senior VP of sales and marketing, Tony Key, confirmed that Rainbow Six: Patriots is now being developed for next-generation consoles. According to Key, Patriots got caught in the upcoming hardware transition, and the devs had to decide where to go with it:
“Rainbow 6 got caught in the transition of going to next-gen and essentially we’re figuring out ‘well, are we making the right game for the right hardware systems?’”
He said that Ubisoft didn’t have anything else to add about the title, save that it’s an exciting project for the developer, and when asked outright if the game was in development for the next-gen systems, answered with a simple “yes.”
So, there you are. If you’re a Rainbow Six fan, just hold on a little longer. Ubisoft will have news about the series at some point the future. It doesn’t sound like it will be the near future, though.
