Ripten Radio Winner of the Week: Scribblenauts

by Jonathan Zungre on September 18, 2009 at 8:16 am

scribblenauts06152

By now you’ve probably heard of Scribblenauts, but if you haven’t you should know that it’s being hailed as the Savior of All Organic Life, a.k.a. one spot lower in a gamer’s mind than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Scribblenauts allows you to write any noun on the DS screen and that word will appear in the game. Ridiculous, I know. Click to listen to me drop the awesome bomb on 3 unsuspecting radio show hosts in my Video Game Winners and Losers of the Week segment. Were they as impressed as gamers are? Read more…

Ripten Radio Presents: Ripcast Episode 17

by Ripten Staff on May 8, 2009 at 9:10 pm

The charm of the Ripcast, as our regular listeners know, is the overwhelming enthusiasm of the Ripcast crew. You can tell we really love what we do. Listen to Beau yawn as John, Dan, and Sam talk about strategy games, and we once again manage to make racism fun!

Ripten Radio Presents: Ripcast Episode 16

by Ripten Staff on April 30, 2009 at 10:34 am

As the Ripcast hits sweet 16, we recap last week’s show, go over our playlists, and talk a bit about some stuff in a really snotty, entitled tone. You know, because that’s what everyone does for their sweet 16. Television taught us a lot about the ways of the world.

Join Solid Snake, Not Zungre, and Sam for a 16 so sweet you’ll puke rainbows. Read more…

Ripten Radio Presents: Ripcast Episode 15

by Ripten Staff on April 24, 2009 at 11:23 pm

Episode 15. Featuring a cast of non-related Landises and a Brit, we made up for the lack of a proper host by being louder and more obnoxious. Well, not at first, but we worked up to it. For example: zombies!

Playlists are expressed, including such hits as Sins of a Solar Empire, HAWX, and Ninja Blade (which is talked about for far too long), and we gradually end up talking about stuff that is pretty much not game-related at all. John also manages to once again live a half second ahead of the rest of us (he answers questions before they are asked!)… or maybe we just didn’t match up the voices properly in the editing room. Ripten Radio Presents: Ripcast Episode 14

by Ripten Staff on April 15, 2009 at 7:54 pm

It’s the return of the Ripcast, gone from the spotlight for a few weeks (blame Zungre) but hopefully not forgotten. In Episode 14, we learn that Sam is last on the list of importance, John’s microphone is occasionally too loud for his demeanor, Dan is stuck in 3rd grade, and Beau is a woman. Oh, and Zungre… well, he rushed through everything so all we remember is him laughing.

The dudes also talk about the games they’ve been playing and take the time out of their busy, important schedules to answer some listener questions. Listen now and let us know how you feel about the subtle background music. Read more…

Ripten Radio Presents: Ripcast Episode 13

by Ripten Staff on March 20, 2009 at 11:52 pm

It’s the Ripcast, hooray! Well, not really “hooray” with an exclamation point, maybe just kind of like with apathetic indifference (which is redundantly redundant). Point is, don’t get too excited — we certainly weren’t.

If you care what the show is about, you should just stop wasting your time reading stupid words when you could be using your ears instead (which is way easier). Please don’t be too sad when I tell you that Jonathan Zungre wasn’t hosting, though. That’s right, the Ripcast is missing its floppy penis once again, and we feel unsurprisingly less manly without it.

We still managed to get a huge ninja boner though. Read more…

Ripten Radio Presents: Ripcast Episode 5

by Ripten Staff on November 6, 2008 at 9:03 pm

This week’s episode sees our unlikely heroes telling tales such as their experiences with Fallout 3, Fable 2, and other various topics of sheer brilliance.

Join host Jonathan Zungre and the Robin to his Batman, Dan Landis, in this week’s short but sweet two-man show.

Skeleton crew you say? Psh… more like skeleton cool. Be sure to wait it out through the end to hear the insidious laugh of the evil Mr. Bones himself.

And don’t worry — next week, we swear we’ll have a longer, beefier, 4 personier show.

Know it, love it, take it. Ripcast. Read more…

Ripten Radio Presents: Ripcast Episode 4

by Ripten Staff on October 27, 2008 at 11:34 pm

Today on the Ripten Radio Ripcast Episode 4, we join host Jonathan Zungre, Dan Landis, and Beau Rosser as they talk about games. Yeah. Video games.

In this week’s episode, the guy’s playlists cross multiple genres and include games such as Fable II, Guitar Hero: World Tour and Dead Space.

To fill out the rest of the show, they discuss the top five Ripten stories of the previous week, as well as muse over the validity of Wal-Mart, Fanboy confusion, terrorists, and voting.

As P. Diddy (is he still called that?) would say: “Enjoy or Die.” Read more…

Ripten Radio Presents: Ripcast Episode 3

by Ripten Staff on October 17, 2008 at 1:33 am

As I’m sure most of the world noticed, the Ripcast did not go up as soon as we had planned. No worries! We are here once again to delight you with the vocal magic that is our normal talking voices in Episode 3.

This week we went over our Playlists, as always, and got into some discussion about videogame sadness. We all felt that when the game is over, we are sad. Aww…

But who are we? This week, Roly and Beau were just not awesome enough to participate in the Ripcast, so we found one single person that could fill the role of them both: our newest writer, Chelsea Thompson. It is hard to deny the power of geekified boobs.

Speaking of boobs, our host was, naturally, Jonathan Zungre. He was joined by his bigger co-boob, Dan Landis, to form an awesome threesome. We’re pretty sure that if we were in a Persona game right now, we would totally have some killer stats. Chelsea explains why.

We also discuss the pros and cons of Rock Band 2’s single player experience, Sid Meier’s god status, Gears of War 2’s multiplayer changes, PS3 BioShock issues, and a few other things. We had a top five countdown, so I won’t ruin it by telling you ahead of time everything we talked about. You may also be shocked to hear Jon and Dan praise BioWare… again.

You can stream or download Episode 3 here on Ripten, and you can also subscribe to the Ripcast on iTunes by clicking here — the choice is yours. As always, we want to thank everyone for listening, and we welcome any feedback or comments you wish to share. Read more…

Ripten Radio Presents: Ripcast Episode 2

by Ripten Staff on October 6, 2008 at 12:46 am

Remember when we told you to expect our next Ripcast earlier in the week? You’re welcome. Unless, of course, you hate these. Then we apologize from the deepest depths of our hearts.

Our second week goes quite successfully as Dan Landis, Roly Reyes, Beau Rosser, and Jonathan Zungre talk about their Playlists, which include: BioShock, LittleBigPlanet, Resistance: Fall of Man, Rock Band, and The Witcher.

We then harp on a slew of new Nintendo products, the potential of a Buzz Lightyear Sackboy on our PSP’s, Fable II Collector’s Editions getting gutted, and the official word on Ryan Payton (and everyone else’s) involvement in a forthcoming Halo game. Fred Savage works his way into the conversation as well.

On semi-related notes, we have an RSS feed up and running, and found the time to submit the Ripcast to iTunes. Unfortunately Apple has yet to add us to their search, but you can make us all very happy by clicking this link and subscribing to our show.

As always, please feel free to share your feedback with us on the show. We are constantly looking to improve. Hit the jump for our second installment of the Ripten Radio Ripcast. Read more…

Ripten Radio Presents: Ripcast Episode 1

by Roly Reyes on September 30, 2008 at 9:28 am

After a month of hard work behind-the-scenes we’re proud to present you the inaugural episode of the Ripcast, this is the start of a very wild ride.

Join John Kershaw, Roly Reyes, Beau Rosser, and Jonathan Zungre as they tell you about their Playlist’s for the week, which include: Crysis: Warhead, Mercenaries 2, Pure, Rock Band (both of them, Rock Bands?), Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, and Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. Followed by philosophical waxing with Soulja Boy about the merits of Braid, Mass Effect and BioShock films, Spawnpoint Studios job listings, and the mish-mash of Halo games that may or may not be in development.

Due to technical difficulties, this was posted a little late, looking forward you should expect them earlier in the week provided there are no screwups. We’re still working on the logistics of everything, and I’ll keep you posted when I’ve wrangled this group of assholes into a steady schedule.

All music has been provided by the unbearably awesome Anamanaguchi. Have their babies. Seriously. Hit the jump for Episode 1. Read more…
