March has already been a great month for new games with Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Final Fantasy XIII coming out in the first two weeks, but March ain’t over yet. This week we get a few great titles like God of War III, Pokemon HeartGold/Soul Silver and Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening. Gamers are most definitely going broke this month! Final Fantasy XIII comes out this week for PS3 and 360. Yep, that’s pretty much all you need to know. Actually the game is already out as of today, so you should go buy it because it’s suppose to be pretty dope. There are other games coming out this week but none come close to what FFXIII has to offer, well at least for me. Okay, now I gotta get back to playing. WiiWare Mega Man 10 to get DLC Bass Character on April 5, Plus Other DLC

Even though it just came out today for the WiiWare, Capcom already has plans to bring DLC to Mega Man 10 next month.

Capcom will be releasing Bass (a Mega Man character introduced in Mega Man 7 and playable in Mega Man & Bass) as a DLC character for the Wii version of Mega Man 10 on April 5 for 200 Wii Points ($2) and introduce a special stage that same day for 300 Wii Points.

Later that month on April 26, Capcom will be releasing an “Endless Attack Mode” DLC, along with two more special stages for 100 Wii Points each. These DLC dates are more than likely to be different for the 360 and PS3 versions of Mega Man 10, kind of like how the actual release dates of the game are different for each version.

Mega Man 9’s Proto Man is already a playable character in Mega Man 10 for free, so now you’ll have another character in Bass to choose from if you want to cough up the cash next month.

The first week of March gives us a pretty nice array of new video game releases as Modern Warfare 2’s biggest opposition, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, finally hits stores and baseball season starts in the video game world with MLB 2K10 and MLB 10: The Show also coming out. Oh, don’t let me forgot to mention the return of the Blue Bomber in Mega Man 10 for the Wii. That should be dope. Super Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid: Other M, Others Dated at Nintendo’s Media Summit

Big news coming out of Nintendo’s US Media Summit in San Francisco today with the announcement of Super Mario Galaxy 2 being dated for a May 23 release date and Metroid: Other M following a month later for a June 28 release date.

Other big news coming from the Big N for the first half of 2010 include the March 28 release date for the DSi XL, which will launch for $189 and with three different colors to choose from: wine, red and black.

More games coming from Nintendo were dated today including Sin & Punishment 2: Star Successor for June 7, Pokemon Heart Gold/Silver for March 14, Mega Man 10 for March 21 and Cave Story for March 22.

Some titles we weren’t sure about seeing on any Western consoles were Dragon Quest IX and Monster Hunter Tri have now been confirmed by Nintendo with Dragon Quest getting a summer release date and Monster Hunter a release date of April 20.

Another tidbit of news from the Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, the Wii version will feature two-player co-op and will also include the 1992 classic version of the SNES original Prince of Persia.

Looks like 2010 is gonna be a great year for Nintendo and I sure as hell can’t wait for some of these titles to come out!

Sorry a bit late on this week’s list of new game releases, but hey, better late than never. This week’s big game coming out has to be Heavy Rain for the PS3, which has been one of the most anticipating PS3 titles in awhile. Other notable titles coming out this week include Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing, Nintendo’s Endless Ocean: Blue World for the Wii and Metal Slug XX for the PSP. Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands Dated for May

Ubisoft has just confirmed that Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands will release on May 18 and May 20 in the US and Europe.

But which versions of the game will release on those dates you ask? All three of them. Yep, the 360, PS3 and Wii versions of The Forgotten Sands will all release on the same date.

The Forgotten Sands continues the story of the Prince from the Sands of Time trilogy and will coincide with the Sands of Time movie release. I’m glad they went back to the earlier Prince, because the Prince in last year’s title was an annoying douche.

Be prepared for another Persian adventure this May.

MegaMan 10 Available for Download in March

The moment we have all been waiting for has finally arrived. No, I’m talking about Duke Nukem Forever … nerds. Sometime in the year 20XX (actually in 2010) MegaMan 10 will be available for download on consoles in March!! Check out the video below.

If this doesn’t help you get your rocks off, then I don’t know what will. Easy mode is no joke either … now even YOU can beat a MegaMan game!! Mega Man 10 hits WiiWare March 1st, PSN March 11th, and XBLA on March 31st.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Teaser Video

After announcing Ghost Recon: Future Soldier yesterday, Ubisoft went ahead and released the above teaser video for the game. The title was initially confirmed for just the 360 and PS3, but then Wii, DS, and PSP versions were also said to be in the works. Look for Ghost Recon: Future Soldier fall 2010.

Rumor: Sonic to Make an Appearance in Super Mario Galaxy 2

There’s a rumor going around the internet claiming that Sonic will make an appearance in Super Mario Galaxy 2.

According to a trusted source close to Nintendo magazine NGamer, Sega’s infamous hedgehog will be in the Green Hill Galaxy level. Maybe from a trusted source, but for now it’s just a rumor. That is until Nintendo or Sega actually confirms it.

With Sonic 4 now officially revealed, and now a rumored appearance in SMG2, seems as if Sonic is gonna be busy in 2010, which is great news to hear.

Exhibitors and Concerts Announced for PAX East in Boston

Exhibitors and concerts were announced today for PAX East in Boston, which takes place on March 26-28. Major publishers attending the show include EA, Ubisoft, Microsoft and Nintendo, along with well known developers like The Behemoth, Harmonix, Rockstar, Turbine and Twisted Pixel Games also making an appearance. Music acts will include, but aren’t limited to, Jonathan Coulton, MC Frontalot and Anamanaguchi.

The first week of February isn’t much to brag about with only a few titles coming out and no new 360 titles in sight. Star Trek Online has to be the biggest new release this week along with Global Agenda on Steam and Level-5’s long awaited PS3 action-RPG, White Knight Chronicles, which debuted over a year ago in Japan. Only one Wii game out this week with Family Party: 30 Great Games: Winter Fun (ugh) and Puzzle Chronicles hits both the DS and PSP. Capcom Announces Mega Man Zero Collection for DS

Capcom today announced its plans to release the Mega Man Zero Collection for the Nintendo DS. Previously a Japanese-only bundle, the collection will contain all four games in the Mega Man X spinoff series Mega Man Zero, which stars Zero instead of Mega Man.

Originally released for the Game Boy Advance between 2002 and 2005, the new Mega Man Zero Collection will contain all new modes, although we don’t know what they are yet. The collection will be available in North America in “early summer 2010″, according to the press release, which is great timing for those who will be done with Mega Man 10 or more than likely for those who gave up on trying to beat it.

Sega Monkey-ing Around With Real-Life Chiquita Bananas

When you’re in the middle of a frantic session of Super Monkey Ball, does it make you want to reach for a nice, ripe banana? When you’re shopping for bananas at your local supermarket, does it make you want to play a frantic banana-grabbing session of Super Monkey Ball?

The game’s developer, Sega, and the fruit company Chiquita are banking on both. Today, the companies announced that Sega will feature Chiquita-branded bananas in Super Monkey Ball Step & Roll, the latest game in the franchise… and in turn, Chiquita Bananas will be printing and pasting Super Monkey Ball stickers on over 180 million of its real-life curvy yellow fruit.

No matter how you slice it, it’s a pretty savvy cross-promotion. One wonders what happened to Dole, the previous in-game banana sponsor.

Super Monkey Ball Step & Roll hits Nintendo Wii on February 9. If you’d like a free copy, Sega and Chiquita will be giving away a huge HDTV prize package away, including a Wii and a copy of the game, at www.chiquitabananas.com.

As of this writing, the sweepstakes does not yet appear on the Chiquita website.

Wii Exclusive NBA JAM Gameplay Screen Better Than Expected

Remember when I said that the EA Sport’s NBA JAM remake coming exclusively to the Nintendo Wii in 2010 wouldn’t look like the Photoshop image I worked up above? Well, boy was I wrong. Check out the sneak peak screen from the latest Nintendo Power issue.

So it seems that my photo realistic Photoshop work was dead on. Suffice it to say that my excitement level has officially gone up a few notches. Boomshakalaka!!!

Bloober Exec – “Only bad Wii games sell badly.”

You may not have heard of Bloober. You’re forgiven if you haven’t, because before now, neither had I. Looking at the smalltime developer’s website, I’m not even sure if they’ve released a game yet, but they’ve got a few promising irons in the fire. But it was the above comment that caught my eye.

Bloober Team executive Marcin Kawa spoke up recently when an exec from Capcom commented that core titles don’t do well on Nintendo’s console. Kawa responded with the above, titular comment, as well as the following.

“With such a strong install base it’s hard to believe that there’s not enough people to appreciate mature, core content”.

Kawa elaborates by focusing on the quality of the titles.

“It’s all about games and quality. I’m not surprised that another shooter on rails doesn’t sell well. You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure out that people expect something more than that.”

Kawa cites games like No More Heroes 2, Monster Hunter 3 and Metroid: Other M as quality, hardcore games that will likely do well. It’s the following comments that made me really fall in love with the developer.

“Instead of bitching we’d rather create something that has value and doesn’t feel like a third-rate port put together to make a quick buck.”

I like, go on.

“Our logic is far simpler: if the game doesn’t sell, we did something wrong.”

There are definitely external factors when dealing with game sales, and yes, piracy is one of them. But I agree with Kawa’s logic: if your game is good, people will purchase it.

Bloober’s upcoming WiiWare title, Last Flight, is listed as coming soon on their official website.
