New Games Releases: 11/15 – 11/22

by Chad Lakkis on November 16, 2009 at 11:17 pm

game-release-weeklyripten34

From Sunday to Sunday, we bring you the new game releases for each week like a UPS driver speeding through a red light for a nooner in the Desperate Housewives section of town.

This week is loaded with games sure to leave you wallet void of everything but sales receipts, gum wrappers, and fake phone numbers from uninterested dating prospects.

Heading off the list would have to be the we can “absolutely” outsell Modern Warfare 2 “New Super Mario Bros. Wii” title for the Nintendo Wii. I’ll have to admit that I was not really into this game at first but having seen a few videos I realized I miss the straight forward “rescue the princes” plot and classic overhead level selection screen. The only problem for me is I’ll have to finally give in and  pick up a Nintendo Wii.

Other notable store shelf additions include Assassin’s Creed II, Left 4 Dead 2, NCAA Basketball 10, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, and Tony Hawk Ride.

Full list of releases broken down by console available below. Let us know what you plan on picking up in the comment section below. We may laugh at you, but we won’t resort to physical abuse or name calling. That’s a promise. Read more…

LittleBigPlanet PSP Hits November 17th

by Demi Adejuyigbe on October 4, 2009 at 9:46 pm

OMG LBP PSP? LOL!

I got rid of my PSP a while ago because the library was pretty lackluster, and even though it’s expanding more with the inclusion of the PSPgo, I don’t really care for the system. But that’s not to say I’m excited to see how LittleBigPlanet for the PSP turns out. I guess I’ll be able to find out November 17th, when the game hits stateside.

We haven’t heard much about the game since it was announced in February, but it’s shaping up to be a rather solid PSP title. Sony didn’t add multiplayer, but they have promised DLC and the inclusion of British humorist, Stephen Fry, which frankly, is good enough for me. How many of you are planning to pick up the game?

60FPS Gran Turismo PSP trailer released, is quite smooth

by Sam Naylor on September 15, 2009 at 2:09 am

gtpsp

Eurogamer have managed to get hold of a trailer for the upcoming Gran Turismo PSP that not only shows of the game’s (astounding) graphical prowess, but runs at a full 60 frames per second. You’re probably best to download the video if the video is choppy.

Although GTPSP looks great, I’m not sure that it’s worth me getting a PSP for. I was thinking about it, with there being a lot of decent games on the system now, but with Gran Turismo 5 within sight I might just go straight for that instead. What do you think? Is the PSP worth getting?

With Guitar Hero 5, Champions Online and Mini Ninjas coming out this week, it looks like a great start in new game releases for September. Not to mention that the PS3 Slim is officially released on Tuesday, September 1. Hit the jump for the full list of new games coming out this week, along with my pick of the week.

New Game Releases: 8/23 – 8/29

game-release-weeklyripten33

Some big time games coming out this week including Batman: Arkham Asylum, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Harvest Moon: Magical Melody, Dissidia Final Fantasy and Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box. I’m pumped for the new Batman title, as any of you who played the demo should know it’s pretty dope and for those who missed out on any of the Metroid Prime games for the Gamecube, here’s your chance to catch up and get all three games for the price of one. Final Fantasy owners should be excited for Dissidia Final Fantasy, the PSP brawler featuring a variety of FF characters, finally coming out and giving PSP owners something to look out for.

Oh, and you might have noticed that Raven Squad: Operation Hidden Dagger was on last week’s new release list, but it was pushed back to this week. Hit the jump for the full list of new games this week and my pick of the week.

Knowing is Half the Battle: G.I. John… Madden?

by Chad Lakkis on August 20, 2009 at 1:37 pm

As it turns out, the old G.I. Joe Saying “knowing is half the battle” applies to more than just the military. According to the press release sent to me today by EA Sports, a recent study revealed that gamers who played John Madden football were more passionate and knowledgeable about the actual game of football itself. This must also mean that those who play Grand Theft Auto are more knowledgeable and passionate about rape, car bombs, and roof top sniping.

It’s that time of the year football fanatics! Madden NFL 10 is finally coming out this week and should easily sell a gazillion copies in it’s first week. Other than Madden, not much else that interesting to me this week, but Marvel vs. Capcom 2 does finally hit the PS3. Hit the jump for the full list of new games this week. Read more…

This week in new games is a pretty good one especially because of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled coming out on the Xbox Live Arcade. Other notable titles include G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (to coincide with the movie release), SouthPeak’s Brave: A Warrior’s Tale and new DLC for Fallout 3, Mothership Zeta. And don’t let me forget to mention Daisy Fuentes Pilates on the Wii for all you workout freaks. Hit the jump for the full list of new games this week and my pick of the week.

Blah! Another slow and crappy week for new game releases. If you’re a fan of the upcoming G-Force movie, I’m sure you’ll be pleased to see that the game is coming out for like every console. Other than that there’s the Rock Band Country Track Pack, Watchmen: The End is Nigh for the PS3 and 360 and Little King’s Story for the Wii. And that’s literally all we got coming out this week. A crappy week fo sho. Read more…

Another slow week in the summer for new game releases. The two big ones coming out this week are The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition and NCAA Football 10, but nothing much after that. I never played Secret of Monkey Island before, so I might have to hit up the Xbox Live Arcade and check that out (I’m not a PC gamer by any means). Summer game releases use to be rare, but this year is totally different with Prototype, Tiger Woods 10, Indiana Jones, Virtua Tennis, and don’t forget Starfy, all coming out this week alone. And it’s not even officially summer yet for a few more weeks. The Wii MotionPlus also comes out this week just in time to use with Tiger Woods 10. Qore Accidentally Leaks the PSP Go [UPDATE]

by Demi Adejuyigbe on May 30, 2009 at 10:35 am

[Post updated with a better quality video of the June 2009 episode of Qore. The audio's off, but you can still get the gist of what's occuring.]

I’m sure that Sony won’t be too happy about this, but it seems that their video news service, Qore, has accidentally leaked the PSP Go only days before it was supposed to be shown at E3. Someone over at the Gaming Console Network managed to get their hands on the June episode of Qore, where Veronica Belmont and John Koller talk about the new handheld.

A couple of tidbits from the video – slide out controls, 16GB of internal memory & a memory card slot for more, no UMD, release in Fall 2009, and it won’t replace the current PSPs, they’ll be sold simultaneously. The video also announced LittleBigPlanet, Gran Turismo, and Metal Gear for the PSP Go, and said that we’d see GTPSP at E3, which is exciting for those of us that have been waiting upwards of 4 years for it.

Of course, many of us saw this coming, since we’ve been hearing rumors about the PSP Go for about a year now, name and all. Hit the jump for a gallery of 19 images of the PSP Go.

Behind the Scenes of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

by Demi Adejuyigbe on May 19, 2009 at 7:27 pm

The voice actors behind our favorite monolithic automatons have come together to talk about their characters in a brand new behind-the-scenes feature for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. And while it’s really weird to see these average joes voicing such Transformers as Ironhide, Starscream, and Bumblebee, it’s even weirder to see the scale on which these robots exist in the game.

They’re relatively small.

Bumblebee and the enemies he fights in the video are about half of the height of the bridge behind them, and Ironhide seems like he’s been given an angle to make him look big, though he isn’t. Even Optimus Prime in his Peterbilt form seems kind of minute, but I doubt that detracts from the gameplay at all. We’ll find out when the game comes out for every major gaming system on June 15th, only days before the June 19th film release.
