Derek Matias, Contributor (Boston)

Derek is a regular kid by day, and an aspiring super hero by night. He boasts no super human industry altering powers … yet.

He works hard and plays harder. While he openly has a passion for video games, Derek will be the first to tell you that he does not accel at most.

Derek grew up with a Super Nintendo. They went on walks together and shared each others deepest most intimate secrets. He often spent hours on end playing Super Mario World and Mickey’s Magical something or other (it was a long time ago).

Once Derek realized that playing with his “Mickey” would not get him the attention of his fellow lady friends, he stepped up to the Playstation and later the Playstation 2. Derek’s nights were now spent mastering tekken, but to his disappointment, there was still no lady friend.

Currently Derek owns a PS2, PS3, XBOX 360, PSP, and a Nintendo DS. The advent of downloadable content means that he now has one more reason to fire up the ol’ console and waste the day away.

Derek enjoys all game genres, but favors sports games and shooters.
