Xbox 360 Review: Alone in the Dark

by John Landis on July 8, 2008 at 6:47 pm

Sorry, sir, but this game has nothing to do with you. She can stay.

I’ve been looking forward to Alone in the Dark for some time now.  I’ve watched probably several hours worth of gameplay videos and developer interviews, each one making my itch for the game that much harder to scratch.  Unfortunately, the game left me battered and bloody along the side of the road after it had its brutal, uncaring, but somehow (at times) exciting way with me.  It’s definitely not as bad as the movie, but the game does come close at times. Alone in the Dark to Include SecuROM

by Rangebar Merani on June 21, 2008 at 7:58 pm

Atari has announced that the PC version of their upcoming survival-horror game, Alone in the Dark, will ship with the SecuRom anti-piracy system.

After the game is installed, players will go through an “activation” process, which requires connecting online to unlock components that will allow the game to be playable.

Once the process is done, players will be able to play the game offline — but if you’re planning on playing the game on a different computer, you’ll have to uninstall the game, which causes the serial number to be revoked, and forces you to repeat the entire process all over again. Read more…

german-videogame-site-claims-atari-pulled-ads-filed-wrongful-suit-against-them

The past few weeks of videogame publisher drama have been for the most part dedicated to the dispute between Tecmo and their former Rockstar/Director Tomonobu Itagaki, however Tecmo will need to move over and make room for another old school publisher.

German videogame site 4players.de claims to be involved in apparent legal battle with Atari stemming from the sites review of “Alone in the Dark”, a multiplatform horror/action game published by Atari due to hit US store shelves on June 24th, 2008.

Keeping in mind that the original article is in German, and it is well beyond the “normal” business hours we would utilize to obtain a comment from Atari, we were able to loosely interpret the following information from the public complaint aired on the German gaming site: Read more…
