It’s becoming a bit of a trend for developers to release the opening cinematics to their games before their games release, and now I know why. Before watching this, I wasn’t that interested in Prototype, but if it’s anything like this, then this is a day one purchase for me.

The sequence follows Alex Mercer, the game’s protagonist, as he rampages through New York City, trying to deal with the mutative virus that allows him to shape-shift and absorb others. When announced, it sounded a lot like Spiderman 3, but this trailer gives me hope. It’s violent and gory, but I’m also really interested in what happens next in the sequence of events. I guess I’ll have to wait until June 9th to find out.

I haven’t even taken a crack at the editor yet, but I can assure you that nothing I pump out will be nearly as fantastic as that. I thought the working calculator was amazing, but holy shit. Holy shit. In fact, after watching that, I don’t think I ever will open the editor. I am not worthy.

Is it just me or does that guy’s over the top dude-a-riffic enthusiasm seem a bit like someone else we know? Hey, I’m all for Seth Benton, Senior Multiplayer Lead, being excited about his own product — I’m just saying that it sounds like this is the first time “SethyB” is seeing his own game in action.

Anyway, the game does look pretty “awesome”, so “totally” check it out after the jump.

Nintendo of Europe marketing director Laurent Fischer has been quoted by Edge magazine saying that only “geeks and otaku” have a problem with the Wii’s 512MB of internal storage space.

The Wii is the only console of this generation to not even have the option of a hard drive, instead coming with a mere 512MB of internal space available. An additional 2GB can be added via an SD card, but this still falls far short of even the smallest console hard drive.

Now, I’m not normally somebody who tells people how to do their jobs, but I might suggest to Mr. Fischer that this is probably not a smart thing to say.

Not least of all because these Geeks and Otaku, the ones filling up their Wii’s memory, are most likely doing so by purchasing things like WiiWare games and Virtual Console titles from your company.

If you are one of these “geeks” who has filled up your memory and are annoyed that Nintendo doesn’t seem care about you, don’t worry. Ripten are here to give you an affordable and practical solution.

Using the advanced scientific method of “sticking it to the side”, you too can experience the joys of full hard drive support with your Wii.

Shorty after Microsoft announced what is sure to be the greatest game of all time, Sony (in typical Sony style) announced it’s very own videogame rip-off of someone else’s idea. We present to you now — LithGOW.

We were shown just that first piece of concept art because Sony only recently found out about Microsoft’s LithGoW. A Sony rep helps explain the difference between the two games:

“Our new title, LithGOW, is a God of War game, but we have replaced Kratos with John Lithgow. This is completely different from Microsoft’s game. You’ll notice that the “O” in “LithGOW” is capitalized in our game, not only to differentiate between the two games, but to show that our game is better. I don’t know what you’re insinuating, but we’ve had this idea well before Microsoft did. We really wish they would stop copying our strategy.”

I once again had a chat with John Lithgow to hear his thoughts on the new game:

“This is a really exciting time for me. I was contacted by Sony roughly 15 minutes after your story broke on Ripten, and some reps came to my house to take some pictures. Wait… [a voice is heard in the background] What’s that? [more background voices] Oh, I meant to say that we’ve been in talks with Sony for quite a while now, and they offered me a huge amount of money– err, opportunity– to star in their new game… which I still have no idea what it’s about.”

It’s nice that PS3 owners aren’t left out in the cold with no John Lithgow game, but it remains to be seen which game, LithGoW or LithGOW, will be the ultimate in John Lithgow awesomeness. We’ve been promised review copies, so we’ll let you know.
