There were a ton of great stories I could have written about Cliff Bleszinski’s panel at the GDC. His speech was hilarious and insightful. Say what you want about Cliffy B, but the son of a bitch knows how to grow a brand.

However, I’m not here to tell you about all that, or what Cliff thinks about the current state of the gaming industry. You can read all about that in countless other places. I’m here to pass on a warning from Cliff…

Now obviously this slide was shown to reinforce the fact that nerd culture has taken over and guess what gamers? We’ve won harder than Charlie Sheen. #Winning #Tigerblood

However, hipsters are a plague upon our planet and they must be killed with fire. Unfortunately, if you tried to kill them with fire, they’d probably just tell you that fire was soooo last week and that this week everyone is killing people with something far more trendy. FUCK!!

But since you insist on seeing more of Cliff’s awesome speech, here’s a 10 minute segment I shot. In this short period of time he manages to cover: Being called a douchebag, having thick skin, growing a brand, marketing, why developers don’t do more PR, the nerds taking over, Notch, Glory Hole Simulators, Duty Calls, being slaves to technology, Geoff Keighley, and the scariness of the sheer amount of gaming platforms that exist in 2012. After the panel I spoke with Cliff for a short while. “Hey Dicktits!” I blurted out. He was not exactly “amused” …until he realized it was me! “Hey, good to see ya Dicktits!” he replied. Yes, we are classy motherfuckers.

CliffyB Breaks Mark Rein’s Face

After being nominated as some of the people in videogaming that need to “shut the fuck up“, Cliff Bleszinski and Mark Rein take it to the ring to decide which of the two of them wins the right to shut up more. Using the photo upload tools in EA’s new game Facebreaker, I was able to poorly reconstruct these two mammoths of mutilating machismo and let them do their thing. Video follows.

Mark came out swinging and really had Cliffy on the ropes, but the Blaznats is no bitch and came back with a vengeance. Too bad there’s a time limit — we’ll have to wait until the game releases in September to see what would happen if they weren’t confined to mere 90-second slap fights.

P.S. Does anyone else get the overwhelming urge to barf all over the place whenever they are subjected to EA Trax, or is that just me?

CliffyB Calls Metal Gear Solid “Passive Entertainment”

Cliff Bleszinski, lead game designer of Gears of War 2, cites Metal Gear Solid as the kind of game Epic doesn’t want to make. What were his exact words? Read on to find out.

In a recent interview with IGN, CliffyB was quoted in saying the following:

“Metal Gear Solid is our example of the game we’re not doing. Passive entertainment is on its way out.”

The story itself is just IGN’s preview of Gears multiplayer, which is interesting, but CliffyB’s quote kinda came out of nowhere. Am I sensationalizing this, or did CliffyB just totally dis Metal Gear Solid?
