Kinect Star Wars Announces Five New Modes, Dance Like C-3P0 April 3

According to the press release that hit our inbox this morning, and this tweet from Lucas Arts, “It’s official! Kinect Star Wars and the super awesome Millenium Xbox 360 bundle will release on April 3rd! May the Force be with you!” Yay, official stuff! It’s all there in the pudding folks, Kinect Star Wars is finally on its way out. I found this game to look like a gigantic pile of boring gobbledygook, but thankfully there’s more to the announcement!

Apparently Lucas Arts or perhaps quality control or really anyone that isn’t five likely noticed that Kinect Star Wars looked super duper boring! So they jazzed it up. Or. Cantina band…ed… it up. I’m not a huge Star Wars buff, leave me and my crappy puns alone, dammit!

Anyways they’ve announced five modes for the game including Jedi Destiny: Dark Side Rising, Podracing, Rancor Rampage, Duels of Fate, and a “Galactic Dance Off mode loaded with Star Wars-themed pop tunes, where those still honing their Jedi skills can take a break to battle Darth Vader on the dance floor or bust a move ‘Solo style.’”

That last bit seems incredibly silly, but I’m rather thrilled to see the developers or whomever’s decision this was look at their game, realize it was lackluster, and pump it full of additional things that hopefully don’t suck. In the mean time, the console looks absolutely awesome, so if you like Star Wars, or awesome consoles, or Kinect, April 3 is a date to look forward to. Kinect Star Wars will release at $49.99 USD and $449.99 for the bundle which has a white Kinect (awesome) and comes with a special C-3PO unlockable for Dance Mode.

Redesigned Wii Bundle Coming To North America

The redesigned Wii is heading to North America as part of a special bundle. This Wii bundle will include the redesigned black Wii, a black Wii Remote Plus, Black Nunchuck, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and a special Super Mario Galaxy Soundtrack CD only available in this bundle.

The redesigned Wii will not have Nintendo GameCube support and has to sit horizontally.

It’s disappointing that this is the only way to get a North American copy of the Super Mario Galaxy CD. To please hardcore supporters, Nintendo should find a way to make this soundtrack available to current Wii owners.

PlayStation 3 Uncharted 3 Bundle Coming At You Soon

Another PlayStation exclusive, another console bundle. Fortunately this time, it’s a game well worth buying a new PlayStation 3 for. The Uncharted 3 PS3 bundle includes a sizable 320GB hard-drive, of course a copy of Drake’s latest adventure and a one month subscription to the PlayStation Plus service, which allows you to download free games and other nifty perks. The console bundle will launch alongside the game on 11/1/11, for $299 USD. Not a bad price if you’re in the market for a new PlayStation 3, so if you haven’t got one yet, there’s never been a better time.

Zelda: Skyward Sword Gold Wii Remote Bundle Details Revealed

Nintendo of America has finally announced the details on how fans can acquire the Gold Zelda Wii Remote. A Special Edition Zelda: Skyward Sword bundle, containing the game and the Gold Zelda Wii Remote, will be available when the title launches on November 20th, 2011 for an MSRP of $69.99 USD. Zelda: Skyward Sword will also be sold without the Gold Wii Remote for an MSRP of $49.99.

Additionally anyone that purchases the game during its first run, be it the bundle or stand alone, will be treated to a FREE music CD. This CD will feature orchestral arrangements from various Zelda titles in the series, all of which will be preformed at The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony Concerts.

Third Humble Indie Bundle Raises Over $2 Million

The third ‘pay what you want‘ Humble Indie Bundle we reported on last month has hit sales over over $2 million.

The second Bundle’s record of $1.8 million has been broken, making this the most profitable pack so far.

The bundle, which includes And Yet It Moves, Atom Zombie Smasher, Cogs, Crayon Physics Deluxe, Hammerfight, Steel Storm, and VVVVVV as well as a host of bonus games, is coming to an end in one day’s time- so if you’re interested then bloody well buy it now you fool.

The site lists the average payments from each platform. Windows users paid $4.89 on average, with $7.73 being the average for Mac users. Linux wins outright as usual, however, with an average purchase of $12.04.

Pay What You Want for the Third Humble Indie Bundle

The Humble Indie Bundle is back for a third time- this time including great indie games like VVVVVV and Crayon Physics Deluxe.

All the games in the Bundle work natively on Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows, with no DRM- and can be redeemed on Steam. The most important thing, however, is that both indie devs and charities (Child’s Play and the EFF) benefit from the sales: and you can choose how much goes to each.

It really is both a great cause and an amazing deal. Do everyone involved a favour and don’t pay $0.01 or something; be nice.

inFAMOUS 2 Release Date Announced, “Hero” Edition and Preorder Bonuses Detailed

Sucker Punch has announced inFAMOUS 2 will be launching in North America exclusively on June 7th, 2011 – so far no info on the euro release date. They have also given details for the special “Hero” Edition bundle and preorder retail bonuses.

On June 7th, Sucker Punch will also release the inFAMOUS 2 Hero Edition. It will retail for $99.99 and in addition to the game, it will include the following:

It’s been officially confirmed that there will be a special GoldenEye 007 bundle available when the game launches this holiday season that contains a Gold Classic Controller Pro.

This limited edition bundle is being called the GoldenEye 007 Classic Edition and contains both the Wii Game GoldenEye 007 as well as the Gold Classic Controller Pro. This is the only way to obtain this limited edition Classic Controller Pro and will cost gamers $69.99 for the bundle.

GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo Wii will also be available by itself, without the limited edition controller, for $49.99.

God of War: Ghost of Sparta Coming to PSP November 2nd

Those of you waiting for news on the newest entry to the God of War franchise will have to wait no longer, as Sony is announcing today that Ghost of Sparta, the sequel to 2008′s incredible Chains of Olympus, will hit the PSP on November 2nd, right in time for you to put it on your Christmas wishlists.

You’ll also get a metric ton of bonuses if you pre-order the game as well; you’ll get a soundtrack, PSP & PS3 themes, a Kratos avatar for PSN, a Legionnaire Skin for Ghost of Sparta, and a Game Directors Documentary, which is a discussion between devs that have worked on the God of War franchise- devs like David Jaffe, Cory Barlog, and Dan Jan. You’ll also be able to pick up a Ghost of Sparta PSP bundle if you don’t own a PSP. For $199.99, you’ll get a black/red PSP-3000, Ghost of Sparta, a download code for Chains of Olympus, Kick-Ass on UMD, and a 2GB memory stick.

While I currently don’t own a PSP, there’s very little chance anyone who does would have any reason to pass this game up. It looks fantastic, and if it’s anything like the first PSP title in the God of War franchise, then it will be a blockbuster hit.

Microsoft Confirms $199 Xbox, Kinect Bundles

In an internal marketing Q & A session, Microsoft let loose that not only will there be a $199 Xbox 360 configuration, but at least one Xbox bundle that would pair the console with Kinect. We knew that Kinect would be sold on its own come this fall, but I think we all assumed that Microsoft would take the opportunity to bundle Kinect with the systems.
There were rumblings earlier this week that said Microsoft would release an Xbox 360 for $199 as a replacement for the lower-end arcade. When I worked at GameStop, the Xbox 360 Arcade was the version that sold the most. Being able to spend $100 less is a big deal for a lot of people. While we don’t know the specs of the $199 Xbox exactly, I’m sure it will be just as attractive to people as the past Arcade units have been.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker PSP Bundle Details

Here’s some details about a PSP bundle (or two) for Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, the biggest PSP game since Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops. They’re quite good. There is not much more to say.

The Sony deal will cost about $295, and includes the game, a camo-skinned PSP-3000, and a case. The more expensive Konami one will include some dog tags, a stand, and a booklet of some description. Neither are the most exciting things in the world, but they’re good enough, I suppose. Tempting, one might even say. I particularly like the stand and the fact that it implies something about cut-scenes in MGS. (There are long cut-scenes in MGS and you need a stand to watch them if this joke is not clear).

Bethesda announce Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition

Similar to their earlier Game of the Year edition of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Bethesda have announced that a version of Fallout 3 that includes all of the DLC released so far in the price of admission. Undoubtedly this will be the definitive version, just as it was with the Oblivion GotY version.

The game will release on October 13 and will cost $60 for the console versions and $50 for the PC version. Bethesda have also announced that the DLC for PS3 is coming very soon. Broken Steel is coming on the 24th of September, followed by Operation: Anchorage and The Pitt on 1st October, and then Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta on the 8th. Good news all round, then.

Activision announces Modern Warfare 2 Xbox 360 bundle

Shacknews reports that with the release of Modern Warfare 2, a 250Gb Xobox 360 bundle will become available. The hard drive is the biggest available on the 360, and the box itself will feature a “limited edition” paint job.

This news comes straight from an Activision event that I bet you wish you were at. The multiplayer portion of the game was shown and played by attendees, who now must be quite smug. I hate to make predictions, but I reckon this game will sell more than 8 copies in its first day. In fact, I’m willing to put money on it. You can even quote me on it. As for the bundle, well, at $400, it’s pretty steep. I think most Call of Duty fans already own a 360, or at least another platform to play it on.

Wipeout HD and Fury expansion coming to Blu-Ray for Europe

Joystiq reports that the acclaimed downloadable game Wipeout HD will be heading to Blu-Ray for European gamers. The bundle will cost £20 and, for now at least, is showing no signs of coming to the US.

Unfortunately, this bundle means that I no longer have an excuse to buy this game, as it will undoubtedly become a lot cheaper than £20 if you shop around. If you’ve been around these parts for a while you might remember our glowing review of the game, so this can really only be good news for everyone.

Modern Warfare 2′s Prestige Edition to Make Your Wallet $149 Lighter

Yesterday, we brought you an unboxing video of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition, courtesy of Infinity Ward community manager fourzerotwo. The Prestige Edition was fully packed, with an art book, a copy of the game, a download code for COD Classic on XBLA and/or PSN, and a pair of night vision goggles. Ridiculous, right? Of course, with the inclusion of night vision goggles, everyone assumed this bundle would skyrocket into the $300 range easily, but fourzerotwo & Infinity Ward announced today on Twitter the actual price at $149.99 for both PS3 & Xbox 360 versions.

While I’m glad it’s not two kajillion dollars like our in-house analyst had predicted, $149 is still a lot to pay for a game bundle. I’ll probably be picking it up, provided I have the cash in November when it’s released, but that’s because I can think of 149 different uses for the goggles. What about you guys? Is anyone willing to plunk down a Benjamin and a Grant* on the full Prestige Edition, or will you just go for the $60 regular edition/$80 Hardened Edition?

*I promise, I’ll stop talking in dead presidents… eventually.

Best Buy to bundle Killzone 2 and MGS4 with 80GB PS3 (Update)

A week after releasing an 80 GB PS3 bundle with LittlelBigPlanet and Wall-E, Best Buy will soon be offering an 80GB PS3 bundle packaged with both Killzone 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4 for $399.99, according to rumors and the above pic that has been spreading around the web. It’s said that Best Buy is trying to clear out their shelves of the 80Gb PS3 to replace it with the 160Gb and then eventually for the rumored PS3 Slim.

Again, this is all speculation for now, but I’m pretty sure that picture is legit and we’ll be seeing those bundles on Best Buy shelves soon enough. It’s a great deal for anyone thinking about getting a PS3 as you get two of the best games on the console for free!

(Update) No longer a rumor as the bundle has now been posted on Best Buy’s website. Yay!

Bundle Madness: Bioshock and… Oblivion?

In perhaps one of the strangest videogame bundles since Beyond Good and Evil was packed in with some cheese, 2K and Behtesda have joined force to create the BioShock & The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Bundle. the deal will be released July 7 in the US, at $39.99 on Xbox 360 and $29.99 on PC. Considering that I got Bioshock on Steam for $5 and Oblivion is currently around $18 on Steam right now, this isn’t the best deal I’ve ever seen. My advice: buy the Orange Box instead.

Still, if you don’t already own these two games, I can’t recommend them enough. Oblivion holds my attention years after its release (in fact, I played it just yesterday for hours on end) and Bioshock’s heavy narrative was an industry wake up call (since they seemed to ignore that of Half-Life 2). Both are must-buys, but with a little sleuth you can get them for much better prices individually.
