RE5 Controls Overhauled: Strafe Your Heart Out
by Wade Larson on October 6, 2008

“Thank you - for blessing me with new controls and strafing feet.”
Where Leon Kennedy in Resident Evil 4 could do little more than shoot flying implements of rusty death out of the sky (which would really require way more skill than dodging), Chris Redfield will have an advantage thanks to Capcom’s announcement of an overhaul to the controls for RE5.
According to the most recent Australian Official PS3 Magazine, RE5 will feature a control style similar to Gears of War, enabling strafing and rolling. Read more…
New Resident Evil 5 Screens Are A Blast
by Andrew Podolsky on October 3, 2008

A stunning new batch of RE5 screens confirm what we’ve known for a few months now: that Resident Evil 5 is shaping up to be a much nicer-looking version of Resident Evil 4. A few of these screens also show off the co-op dynamics, with Sheva seeking help and assistance after grappling with some vicious zombies.
These new screens show off the look of the game, but we’re still waiting for confirmation of RE5’s gameplay variations. The on-rails vehicle scenes in RE4 were among my favorites, so hopefully we won’t have to wait long for a glimpse of the other action setpieces in RE5. A gallery of all the new screens can be found on the next page. Read more…
Mega Man 9 Available For Download Now
by Chad Lakkis on September 22, 2008

Bust out your Wii (don’t go there) and download some retro Mega Man action. I have been waiting to play this game for a few months now, and after giving it a go at E3, I was quickly reminded how hard some retro games can really be. Don’t kid yourself, in addition to being nostalgic, this game will be challenging as well.
My download has started and my checklist has been double checked for retro compatibility. Zuba pants, check! Michael Jackson “BAD” playing in the background, check! Dr . Pepper, check!

Capcom “Working On” Lag In Street Fighter IV
by Keane Ng on August 28, 2008

Street Fighter IV’s certainly a contender for fighting game of the year, but it won’t be if it’s online play is hampered by the same kind of lag that the Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix beta has been. That game’s not pushing netcode nearly as hard as SFIV will, presumably, and it’s been decidedly problem-ridden. But, according to SFIV executive producer Yoshinori Ono, Capcom is “working on it”.
In order to prevent the lag we’re thinking about trying to balance it up at user interface level and input timing by using joystick or something like that. We still haven’t got a complete plan as yet. We’re still working on it. That’s all we can say at the moment.
Getting fighting games working online seems to be a precise game of deterrence; there’s no way to get rid of lag, just ways of fighting it off, through backdoor shenanigans and programming tricks. Hopefully Capcom can get the job done, because I’m itching to put the hurt on foes worldwide.
Bionic Commando: Rearmed Sells 130K
by Roly Reyes on August 25, 2008

“Holy fiddlesticks!” Bionic Commando: Rearmed’s Producer, Ben Judd, proclaimed in response to the game’s fairly impressive sales numbers. Capcom must be just as impressed as he is, considering that a lot of the top people at Capcom projected this to be a money losing venture.
In the first week, across all 3 platforms, Bionic Commando: Rearmed has sold 130,000 units. That may not seem like much, but for a solely digital distributed title, this is an incredible number. Judd confirms, Read more…

Capcom: Our TGS “Ace” Will Pucker Your Balls
by Roly Reyes on August 16, 2008

When speaking to Kotaku’s Brian Ashcraft, Ben Judd, Capcom’s Producer of all things Bionic Commando, claimed that:
“We still have a fucking ace up our sleeve. It’s an ace, a fucking ace… At TGS (Tokyo Game Show), the Capcom booth stage is going to make people’s balls pucker up. It’s going to be big. ”
When pressed further, Judd refused to reveal any additional info, but on the subject of more prudent matters, Judd added that Bionic Commando: Rearmed is doing well and expects Bionic Commando 3D to do exponentially better: Read more…

Capcom Announces Three New Mega Man 9 Bosses — Again!
by Chad Lakkis on August 13, 2008

Capcom just shot us over an email titled “Mega Man 9 Bosses Unveiled!” announcing that new images and in-game screens of three new Mega Man 9 Bosses had been added to their press site.
So I rush to get them up on the site only to realize that they are the same three bosses IGN revealed two days ago. The same three bosses Capcom blogged about IGN revealing just one day ago. Why is it that I suddenly feel like a third world country?
Oh well, it’s my fault for not staying on top of my IGN RSS feed. Shame on me. Enjoy the two day old news after the jump. Read more…
Mega Man 9 Achievements Revealed, Achievement Whores Cry
by Keane Ng on August 13, 2008

Mega Man is hard. No doubt about that. Mega Man 9, supposedly, is going to be the hardest one since the classic NES titles of yore, which is pretty fitting considering the game’s neo-retro graphical style. Back in the day when you downed Quick Man without taking a hit, all you could do was tell your friends, and hope they believed you.
Now, with these recently released Mega Man 9 Achievements, you can have concrete proof of your bona fide Mega mastery. Good luck getting them though, because well, they’re almost all completely insane, from “Gamer’s Day”, which tasks you with beating the game 5 times in a single day, to “Peacekeeper”, which requires you to beat the game while defeating “as few enemies as possible” – nice of Capcom not to give us a specific number. Hit the jump for the full list. Read more…
Pirates Making The Devil Cry
by Justin Arnold on August 1, 2008

Alright, the Devil may not be crying, but Capcom sure is. Capcom, which has produced the emo-kid wunderkind Devil May Cry series, is currently trying to repel all brigands and cutthroats as their most recent installment in the series is getting pirated.
Christian Svensson, Capcom’s senior director of strategic planning and research posted on the industry giant’s forum lamenting Devil May Cry 4’s abysmal PC sales.
“It’s such a good version and it really deserves better sales,” Svensson wrote. “I know it’s getting pirated to hell and back - it was up on torrents literally the day it shipped.”
Despite rampant pirating of the title, Svensson is adamant to continue digital distribution of future titles, including the forthcoming Bionic Commando.
“I certainly have pushed for digital distribution on (Devil May Cry 4) – globally, I’m responsible for all DD deals,” Svensson wrote. “I have a presentation I’m making shortly that I’m hoping will make that approach something we do with all our PC content, even those developed in Japan, but no promises. It might not happen.”

More Okami Sales Needed For Sequel
by Kev Lochun on July 29, 2008

It was public demand that caused Capcom to port Okami over to Wii in the first place, but they won’t cave when it comes to a sequel-– it’s a dead franchise unless the first one starts paying the rent. Read more…

Hands-On Preview: Dark Void
by Andrew Podolsky on July 22, 2008

In our last E3 podcast, we talked about how shooting in and out of cover is definitely in this year. But what about fighter pilots from the 1930s that get sucked into an alternate universe through the Bermuda Triangle, where human survivors are fighting evil alien robots in a world with no ground to stand on? That sounds at least a bit original, doesn’t it? Strap on your jetpacks, and we’ll dive into the world of Dark Void. Read more…
Hands-On Preview: Resident Evil 5
by Andrew Podolsky on July 19, 2008

The good news about Resident Evil 5 is the same as the bad news: It plays very, very similarly to Resident Evil 4. The stage we played at E3 was just like the Ganado Village at the start of RE4, only with a greater variety of zombies, ultra-sharp environments and lighting, and a few gameplay tweaks like instantaneous weapon changes.
