Is Mega Man X Coming to Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3? Sorta…

It’s been a tough year for Mega Man fans. First, Capcom canceled Mega Man Legends 3 and blamed the fans for it. Then, Mega Man was left out of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 despite fans going wild for the Blue Bomber. Oh, then there was that “Boxart Mega Man” thing happening with Street Fighter x Tekken.

Now, Capcom is taunting fans again with a Mega Man X Skin for Zero in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. It’s bad enough that they are still peddling these skin packs, but to toss Mega Man in there as a tease? It’s just mean.

If you want to delude yourself, though, you can grab the Weapon Master Skin Pack, which also includes alternate looks for Trish, Hawkeye, Taskmaster. It’s priced at 320msp on Xbox Live and $3.99 on the Playstation Network.

M. Bison, Akuma, Jin, and Ogre Confirmed for Street Fighter X Tekken

A handful of moveset images have inadvertently revealed M. Bison, Akuma, Jin, and Ogre for Street Fighter X Tekken.

The images were spotted by Taiwanese blog Gamer. You can find the moveset images below, if you’re interested in seeing what the movesets actually are.

There’s not much more to it than that, unfortunately. Stay tuned to Ripten for more Street Fighter, Tekken, and related news as it happens.

Resident Evil: Revelations Misspelled on Spine of Game Box

Capcom has said it plans to fix a spelling error on the initial shipment of Resident Evil: Revelations by the next shipment.

The 3DS game’s name was spelled as “Revelaitons” on the spine of the game box on the first editions in North America. Capcom say this will be fixed by the second shipment of boxes.

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 Vita Trailer Shows Frank West and Others in Action

Capcom released a new trailer and one screenshot to show off Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 on the PS Vita. The trailer shows a number of fighters in action including Dead Rising‘s Frank West. You have to admit, it does look pretty damn sweet on Sony’s handheld system.

New Resident Evil 6 Dev Diary Shows Breathtaking Gameplay

Capcom has released a developer video from the Fright Club event that has members from the dev team talk about Resident Evil 6 followed by awesome gameplay footage.

One thing is for sure, Capcom isn’t pulling any punches. Watch the video below.

Resident Evil 6 is scheduled to release November 20th on PS3, PC and 360.

Ace Attorney 5 Announced for Japan

Capcom‘s Gyakuten Saiban (Ace Attorney) 5 has been announced for the Japanese market, and the first three games in the series will be released in HD on iOS.

Most likely Gyakuten Saiban 5 will be for 3DS and will eventually come to the Western markets, but you never know. I can’t make any promises, that’s all I’m saying.

Also in Japan only, Ace Attorney 1, 2 and 3 are getting HD releases on iPhone, iPod touch and iPad- with Android versions coming as well. Let’s hope this happens in Western markets as well, because these games are perfect for the mobile platforms.

Capcom has Revelation, Drops Resident Evil Revelations Price to $39.99

The Capcom train keeps chugging with more news one one of their major franchises imminent releases. This time it’s all about a price drop for their 3DS title Resident Evil Revelations, initially announced to be $49.99. Most 3DS games are most certainly not that expensive, so this prompted a pretty upset reaction from Capcom’s fanbase (what else is new?). Allegedly the price was due to a 4GB size card for the game, rather than the typical 2GB.

In their infinite graciousness, Capcom has somehow, through thick and thin, likely fighting off waves and waves of zombies and the evil corporations behind their coverup, perhaps even through round after round of some of the world’s greatest fighters and at lastly through Dr. Wiley, managed to drop the price down to $39.99. I would personally like to thank Capcom for their impressive ability to scale the price of their games down to the standard set by the industry. That was sarcasm, I don’t get why they should get any praise for this, but at the very least we can stop being mad. For now. At the very least, the game seems to be being received well, and it’s also canonical so Resident Evil fans can enjoy some pure Resident Evil story. The game releases on February 7th, stay tuned for Ripten’s review coming up around release date.

More Publishers Join EA’s Origin Digital Distribution Service

Eleven publishers have been signed up by EA to sell and distribute their games on Origin, EA’s Digital Distribution Service.

Trion Worlds, CD PROJEKT RED, Freebird Games, Recoil Games, Autumn Games, 1C Company, InXile Entertainment, Paradox Interactive, Core Learning Ltd and N3V Games have all joined the service, and will be adding their games to the service’s catalogue over the next few months.

Warner Bros. Interactive, THQ and Capcom have already signed up to the service, and Origin can surely only get better with more publishers prepared to sell their games there. Let’s just hope that the economists were right when they told us about price competition.

Asura’s Wrath Launch Trailer is Brutal and Bad-ass! Kratos Who?

Kratos who? Asura’s Wrath has garnered many comparison’s to Sony’s God of War and for good reason. Both are action adventure games featuring demigods who were betrayed and seek vengeance on the gods.

CyberConnect2 and Capcom think they’ve got a winner on their hands. After watching this trailer and following the development of this game I can’t deny that it doesn’t look bad-ass. Does it have what it takes to dethrone the God of War? We shall see when the game releases next month. In the meantime, watch the launch trailer below.

Asura’s Wrath is unleashed February 21 in the US and February 24 in Europe for the PS3 and 360.

Resident Evil 6…Does That Mean 6 Player Co-Op?

Resident Evil 6 has already been revealed, but the rumors don’t stop coming. Even though Leon and Chris will be in different locales, it doesn’t mean you won’t be able to game with a friend or two. But how about playing with an extra five people?

The Xbox.com page for the game lists co-op play as up to six players at once. Yeah, that’s right, six. It doesn’t specify if this is for the campaign or a separate game mode, but shooting up zombies together with five other people sounds pretty insane. It’d be Gears of War 3′s Horder mode plus 1000. Capcom hasn’t confirmed whether or not if this is true, but we’ll let you know when it is.

Resident Evil 6 mutates onto stores November 20 for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Resident Evil 6 Coming This November, First Trailer Infects The Web

It looks like Capcom didn’t want to wait. After all the rumors about Resident Evil 6, including the ads they bought, they’ve decided to blow the lid on Resident Evil 6. Here’s what Capcom’s revealed:

The game is coming out for Xbox 360 and PS3, with a PC version arriving “at a later date”
The game’s story takes place 10 years after the Raccoon City incident. The President of the United States is going to reveal what actually happen so it’ll curb bioterrorist activity
Returning heroes Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield will be the playable characters with separate campaigns. Think Arbiter and Chief from Halo 2 and their paths will cross at some point in the game
Chris’ storyline will take him to China, while Leon’s will put him here, square in the US of A. Leon’s with the President when he’s about to reveal the truth, when the President gets infected. Leon will have to make a hard decision regarding the President’s fate, and the world will be united by “a common fear that there is no hope left”.
The game will utilize a cover system, just like Resident Evil 5 before it
Resident Evil 6 is directed by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, who’s making sure the team is “working tirelessly to deliver the most impressive Resident Evil title ever both in terms of scope and production values”.
Expect different pre-order bonuses depending on where you get the game. Gamestop, Best Buy, and Amazon will each get their own exclusive map to function with the game’s various modes.

Rumored Resident Evil 6 “No Hope Left” Graffiti Billboards Purchased By Capcom

A curious collection of online content has been seen floating around the interwebs since last Wednesday. Graffiti tags bearing the phrase “No Hope Left” are popping up around the world, and a decidedly freaky video of a frantic Chinese woman was uploaded to YouTube this last Saturday. A blog, maintained at nohopeleft.com, is seemingly dedicated towards uncovering the mystery behind this strange phenomenon.

However, a recent investigation by thesixthaxis has uncovered some telling information about this apocalyptic exhibition. According to the investigator (who arrived on the scene wearing a shirt and tie mind you), the wall of No Hope Left “graffiti” in London isn’t actually graffiti at all; it’s a billboard. Making a few calls, he managed to track the billboard to a company called Primesight, who in turn directed him back to the company that placed the advertisement. That company is none other than Capcom, the Japanese game company responsible for the Resident Evil series, is behind the billboard purchase.

It seems that Capcom is using a new viral ad campaign to promote the first Resident Evil game in three years, Resident Evil 6. Although the company denied the ad campaign when prodded, stating that “Capcom doesn’t comment on any rumours or speculation,” a public announcement is rumored to be in the works for tomorrow.

Evidence points strongly towards the conclusion that, sometime within the next 24-hours, Capcom will announce Resident Evil 6. Below is an example of the ad campaign, including one of the graffiti tags and the slightly freaky video. It’s also worth noting that TForepaugh, the Youtube user who posted the frantic video mentioned above, only created his or her account on Monday of last week. That smells like an ad campaign to me. PC Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition will be Updated Soon

The PC version of Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition will be getting a 2012 update at the end of February.

The patch itself will likely address concerns with character balance, as an update to this nature has already been released for the console versions. The Capcom blogger writes:

Our development team has been cracking the whip on this project, and are aiming to have the 2012 update ready for you all by the end of February. We will have additional updates in these upcoming weeks. so keep an eye on this space for more info.

Good to see continued support for the PC version, something we don’t often see with ports like this. Thanks, Capcom, you’re a peach.

Capcom Vancouver Job Listings Hint Development of Unannounced New IP

If you believe what you read in job listings, you could be lead to believe that Capcom Game Studio Vancouver, previously known as Blue Castle Games before being acquired by Capcom in October of 2010, is hard at work and hiring for ““two new AAA titles” with one possibly being a “third-person action game.”

Capcom Game Studio Vancouver is the team behind Dead Rising 2 and its plethora of flavors, with the most recent being the October 2011 release of Dead Rising 2: Off The Record, for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

What exactly they are working on remains a mystery, though it wouldn’t surprise us one bit if one of the two “AAA titles” they are hiring for is a continuation of the Dead Rising brand.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City – Full List of Versus Modes and Gameplay Trailer

Capcom today released the full list of multiplayer versus modes for Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City. The versus modes include two competing factions (Umbrella Security Service vs US Special Forces) which battle while under assault from zombies and other infected monsters.

Versus Modes will include:

Team Deathmatch - Battle for the most kills in brutal triple threat chaos that leaves players never knowing what’s behind them, an element that could only exist in the twisted Resident Evil universe.
Biohazard mode – Make sure samples of the G-virus are returned safely to their base while fighting off all the competing forces at play in Raccoon City.
Survivors mode – Try to survive the horror just a little bit longer while waiting for rescue. There’s limited space on board a helicopter so fight off the opposition and survive the hordes of hungry zombies, risking infection if they get too close.
Heroes Mode – Previously announced, this mode allows fans to play as one of their favorite Resident Evil characters, including Leon S. Kennedy, Hunk or Jill Valentine.

Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City will be at retail in North America March 20th for the PS3 and Xbox 360. The PC release date has not been set.

Capcom Teases Big Plans for Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Commemoration

August 30th of this year will mark the 25th anniversary of the Street Fighter franchise. It’s hard to believe that the now iconic fighting game first debuted in Japanese arcades on that date in 1987. To commemorate this anniversary, Capcom promises big things. Capcom Community Manager, Brett Elston, said the following on the Capcom-Unity site:

“For 25 years Street Fighter’s iconic hero has wandered the globe in search of the perfect battle, and to commemorate his quest – not to mention the millions of fans who’ve followed him every step of the way – we’re preparing some big plans for 2012 … The full details of this international celebration are still to come, but I can at least share the official logo that’ll emblazon all related products through the year.”

New RE: Operation Raccoon City CG Trailer is a Welcome Return to the Series’ Roots

Ah, the thrills of Resident Evil games of years past. A time before zombies had tentacles, Umbrella made for the ultimate evil corporation and gamers winched in fear with the site of an unstoppable Tyrant. Which is not to say that we all didn’t love the unique adventure of Resident Evil 4, but RE5 and many recent titles had taken the series away from its’ style and survival horror roots.

Capcom had promised to go back to the basics with Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City and this new trailer shows they intend to deliver. While you won’t see any actual gameplay in this fully CG trailer, it teases the possibilities of the unique squad-based survial gameplay and versus capabilities. What we do see is hordes of mindless zombies, Lickers, unique squad abilities, and a Tyrant.

Look for Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City on March 20 in the US for the PS3 and 360. Check out the trailer below.

Capcom Digital Collection Puts Eight Games on One Disc

Say what you will about how Capcom handles their retail releases, but they’ve excelled on the digital front – the Xbox Live Arcade in particular. If you’re a fan of Bionic Commando, Super Puzzle Fighter, or Final Fight, you’ll be pleased to hear that these and more games are coming together on one disc.

Exclusively for the Xbox 360, the Capcom Digital Collection will put eight of their digital games together to save you, the gamer, some cash. Here are the games you can expect:

Assuming you haven’t gotten these games already, this is a pretty sweet deal. The collection will ring up $39.99, which is a pretty fair deal. The only thing we don’t know is the release date. Capcom’s keeping mum on it, but it may be a safe bet to expect it sometime in the Spring.

Take a Badass Look at the Street Fighter X Tekken Short Film

In anticipation of Street Fighter X Tekken, Capcom plans on releasing a short film based on the game. They have commissioned Thousand Pounds Action Company to make the film, the same guys behind Real Life Ultra Combos and Street Fighter: Beginnings End.

Thousand Pounds Action Company has decided to make this little announcement video for the short film. I’d like to call it a little insight into the badassery that this short film probably will be. Just skip about two or three minutes into the video and you’ll see what I mean. Although, I highly recommend that you just watch the entire video. It’s a clever way to market the features that are going to be in Street Fighter X Tekken and preview the action sequences that are going to be featured in the short film.

Angry Box Art and Pre-Order Bonuses for Asura’s Wrath

Still unsure what store you’re going to buy Asura’s Wrath at? Some retailers have pre-order bonuses that should help you decide where you’ll buy it. If you buy the game from Gamestop, you get an art book and comic, the latter of which is written by the geniuses at Penny Arcade. The comic shows playable character Asura in everyday situations.

Coming from Best Buy is the Infinity Pack, which features Extinguisher and Zealot modes. Extinguisher Mode, despite its name, doesn’t turn you into a fire extinguisher, but it does help you recover faster when overheat after using some of your more powerful attacks. Zealot Mode increases the time you can spend in Unlimited Rage Mode. So that’s good if you want to spend more time with the rage.

The final pre-order bonus is the Devastator Pack. It reduces your damage taken and helps you fill up your Unlimited Rage Gauge faster. Trying saying that five times fast. We’ve also got a look at the box art below which, as you can see, is all about the rage.

If you’re fretting now, don’t worry. You’ve got plenty of time to decide, because Asura’s Wrath rages its way onto stores February 21, 2012 for the PS3 and 360.
