Consumer trade show CES is currently underway, and after a relatively muted Sony conference accentuated by an amusing Tom Hanks and a thrusting Usher, we have a few PlayStation statistics to share with you.

Kaz Hirai has revealed that there are currently 17 million active PlayStation Network accounts, matching Microsoft’s recently announced Xbox Live numbers.  Of those, 2.1 million accounts were added in December.  Moreover, 330 million pieces of content have been downloaded from the PlayStation Store.

3.4 million people have downloaded the PlayStation HomeOpen Beta, and in less than one month, Sony has made a staggering $1 million on the sale of goods within the service.

Oh and what about Sony’s LittleBigPlanet? It has reportedly sold 1.3 million copies worldwide, with 300,000 levels created by gamers.  It’d take you two years to get through all of them, so you’d better get started.
