New Burnout Crash Details Revealed – You May Not Like Them

The next title in the long-running Burnout Series is set to be a family friendly top-down arcade… thing. The player will still be triggering crashes at intersections, they’ll just be doing so from an entirely new angle.

Check out this direct quote from the ESRB below;

“This is an action game in which players earn points for creating traffic pileups. From a top-down perspective, players initiate crashes by driving ‘cartoony’ vehicles (e.g., cars, trucks, vans, buses) into busy intersections; multiple crashes trigger score multipliers and rack up large ‘bills’ of property damage. Each level is accompanied by crashing sounds, small explosions, and vocal encouragement (e.g., ‘Cool,’ ‘Maximum Carnage!’). In some levels, players are instructed to crash into police cars (e.g., ‘Crash them before they bust you!’); in other sequences, oversized airplanes, tornados, lobster monsters, and UFOs slide across the screen, destroying any vehicles in their path.”

We’ll be looking for more news regarding this title and the development team working on it. With the immensely popular (and awesome) Hot Pursuit under their belt, does Burnout Crash signal a move into the casual gaming scene or is this a Ubisoft/Crytek-style split for the popular developer?

Jon St. John and a Mob of Gamers Crash 30 Hotel Parties at MAGfest

We all know Jon St. John likes to kick ass and chew bubblegum. Well, apparently he also likes to crash people’s hotel rooms at gaming conventions accompanied by mobs of fans.

As the story goes – at last year’s MAGfest (The Music and Gaming Festival in Virginia) JSJ crashed into 28 hotel rooms with his flash mob. Well, this year he was dead set on kicking that record’s ass.

What did the mob do when they finally broke the record? They toasted – to “Balls of Steel”:

Is JSJ the baddest dude alive? Pretty much. He can crash my hotel room any time.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Patch 1.04 Brings PS3 Players More Headaches

Earlier today Activision released patch 1.04 to address a myriad of issues plaguing Call of Duty: Black Ops. While not exclusively for the PS3 (for the Xbox 360 as well) the Ps3 version had been effected by more serious issues. Unfortunately, the patch has brought new issues.

There have been more frequent complaints about the game freezing, others have experienced constantly being dropped out of games. Still others complain of crashes and disconnections.

The effected gamers are primarily PS3 owners and have crashed the Call of Duty Website as they have come to complain in droves.

Activision and developer Treyarch have been gathering data and are trying to find out what specifically went wrong.

Looks like patch 1.04 isn’t the cure-all many hoped it would be.

Motorcycle SUV Collision the Result of “Video Game Adventure” (Video)

I have often thought about purchasing a giant Winnebago and going on a cross country “adventure”. Maybe pulling over on the side of the road from time to time for a “video game” break or two.

While my adventure would include the occasional use of video games, it wouldn’t be a “video game adventure”, no, those are reserved for idiot cyclists like the one below.

News out of Utah is that a motorcycle wrecked into a family of four traveling in an SUV. Thankfully, no one was hurt. The troopers who arrived at the scene interrogated the cyclist about the accident, and he responded by saying he was on a video game adventure. One office added:

“I don’t know whether he was trying to act out a scene in a video game or what he was trying to do, but he said it always worked for him in video games”

This is one Utah resident who shouldn’t be allowed to play video games, let along operate a motorcycle on the open road.
