Crysis Mod Takes You Back to the Future
by Sam Naylor on November 23, 2009 at 7:01 am
This mod for Crysis spawns a drivable Delorean from the classic Back to the Future films. That’s cool enough in itself, but somehow the modder has managed to make the car able to go back in time (see video below). It creates a time portal and sends you back through the in-game day. Fun and functional!
By the way, I know what you’re thinking, and yes- this probably is one of the best uses for Crysis (another being simply to benchmark systems: “My PC can run Crysis”).

Whoa! The Samsung Omnia Can Run Crysis?
by Demi Adejuyigbe on June 23, 2009 at 6:20 pmNo, silly. That’s not happening in this lifetime.
I joke all the time about Crysis running on a cell phone, but the guys at TechCrunch have managed to do so- or at least make it look like its so. Rather than running Crysis right through the phone, TechCrunch ran the game on a PC then streamed it to OTOY, a mobile streaming server, which then redirected it to the Omnia. Pretty cool, I think.
While the guy demoing the software in the video is controlling the game with an Xbox 360 controller, the controller’s actually connceted to the PC. Don’t get any ideas about Crysis coming to consoles, now.
But it’s gonna happen eventually.
Crytek buys Free Radical
by Sam Naylor on February 4, 2009 at 9:23 am
Late last year, Free Radical Design fell into administration, thanks to the wonderful recession gracing our fair world. Well, good news has arrived- Crytek have bought up the company and saved 43 jobs. Free radical is the developer of the fantastic Timesplitters series (and unfortunately the forgettable Haze), and Crytek is behind big-name games Far Cry and Crysis.
This is good news for everyone- Crysis get some great new developers on its team, and Free Radical employees get to keep their jobs. Plus, we might get to play Timesplitters 4 after all. I can only offer my condolences for the employees that weren’t able to keep their jobs- with any luck they’ll be picked back up in the long run.
Meet the Most Pirated Game of 2008
by Keane Ng on December 8, 2008 at 7:45 pmIt’s Spore. Were you surprised, really? All that DRM nonsense, all those lackluster reviews, all those pirates urging folks to fight the power by pirating this game. Rounding out the list of the year’s most stolen are Assassin’s Creed, The Sims 2, Crysis (still? come on guys), and more. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas at number seven? That seems random.
When it comes down to it, though, it’s a damn shame that what a lot of us will remember Spore for is for being downloaded hella much. Then again, there are people who will say that EA deserved every dollar they didn’t get for this game. What’s your guys’ take? Does Spore deserve the decidedly undesirable title of “most pirated game of the year”?

PS3/360 Cry Engine 2 to Look Near High Settings on PC
by Patrick Steen on April 7, 2008 at 8:01 pm
It almost sounds too good to be true. Almost? It is too good to be true. Could Cry Engine 2 on consoles really look any where near as good as Crysis on the PC? Crytek’s Engine Business Manager, Harald Seeley, states that they expect the console versions to “look like they’re running at high settings, or nearly high settings, on a PC.” *Shock.* Read more…

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been noticing quite a few themes that have been making their way through the industry. Throughout last week at GDC, many of these took center stage in a variety of forms. Today, we examine the state of PC Gaming.

by Chad Lakkis on February 13, 2008 at 4:48 am

Crysis Shark Attack
by Patrick Steen on January 20, 2008 at 1:28 pm

Here sharky sharky…What better way to stop players from going out of bounds and meeting game walls than getting them eaten by a shark. Crysis takes an engaging game world a step further with impressive animation and A.I.
Perhaps Crysis doesn’t even have game walls, instead being an endless labyrinth of possibilities where you can play with Sharky the friendly shark (but not too friendly).

Barrelz are Better in Crysis (Video)
by Patrick Steen on December 14, 2007 at 10:13 pm
Barrels (or Barrelz as they should be known in the gaming world) are the staple of video games, perhaps even the cliché of video games. Crysis Review
by Josh Pankratz on November 16, 2007 at 11:38 pm
Reality, what does the word mean to you? Does it equate to the sum of everything you perceive as living and organic? Or perhaps it’s the quotient of all life’s experiences? Regardless, more often than not, the real world offers an intangible connection that our imaginations do not.
Still every now and again the lines get blurred to the point where it becomes difficult to distinguish reality from fiction. It’s this undefined line that so many developers over the years have strived for, and yet so few have achieved. Read more…
