Dead Space Demo Coming 25th November

by Sam Naylor on November 24, 2008

For our readers in the US, rejoice! The demo for Dead Space, EA’s recent horror shooter, will hit the Playstation Marketplace and the Xbox Live Marketplace service on the 25th of November. For our European readers, rejoice slightly less! The demo for Dead Space is heading to Xbox Live Marketplace on the 25th as well, but the PSN release is set for the 27th. Still, it’s better than nothing, eh? Speaking of which, our readers in Asia may now begin not rejoicing- there is no date set for the demo on either marketplace, at least as far as Shacknews reports. PC gamers should also note that there hasn’t been any word of a demo for said platform.

Dead Space is a game that tends to garner mixed reactions; a demo is the perfect way to have a go at the game before you decide to buy. Roly’s review is another safe bet for those of you who need even more persueding. In any case, how do you feel about the game, or even the demo? Worth full price, or not?

The London Expo 08: Games, Queues and Stormtroopers

by Sam Naylor on October 26, 2008

These are not the droids we\'re looking for. Move along.

The MCM London Expo has grown incredibly in size since its first iteration, and this year was no exception. I attended the Expo last year, and it was the biggest exposition I had ever been to, and this year it was at least three times as big. ‘MCM’ stands for ‘Movies, Comics, Media’, but don’t tell the legions of people who go every year– over half of the people that attend, including sellers, are only interested in anime and manga. Nevertheless, since this year was so huge, there were a number of videogame stalls, some of which I managed to barge my way over to and have a go. Read more…

In a recent interview with Variety, EA games label president, Frank Gibeau, and Dead Space executive producer, Glenn Schofield, revealed that there are sequels in the works for some of EA’s biggest games.

Gibeau stated that there is a “sequel idea planned” for Army of Two and a Battlefield: Bad Company. We can only hope that the sequel for Army of Two is called “Army of TwoTwo (TuTu)”. Also mentioned was that a sequel to Dead Space, EA’s recently released horror shooter, was already in the works, and that ideas for a Dead Space movie were in the pipeline as well.

This of course follows news that Mirror’s Edge is part of a trilogy. EA certainly know how to milk their products. Do you care? Is more of these games a good thing, or will you refuse to buy milked stuff (besides milk, of course)? Let us know in the comments. Read more…

From the dark recesses of my mailbox surfaced a copy of the recently released EA game, Dead Space. Readily equipped with poo-retardant pants, I prepared myself to be survivally-horrified. Read on to find out just how many turds I dropped. Read more…

Fall 2008 Lineup: R² Breakdown

by Roly Reyes on October 7, 2008

Fall is fast approaching, and your bank balance will soon be dropping faster than the leaves on the tree outside your window. Naturally, you may not be able to decide for yourself which of the plethora of games to splurge your life’s savings on, and that’s where I come in.

Think of me as your personal assistant — ready to passively (and aggressively) project my thoughts and opinions onto you. Thank me later. Read more…

EA announced today that their highly anticipated horror third person shooter “Dead Space” has gone gold and will ship in the US on October 14th for the 360 and PS3, with a PC version hitting stores on October 20th.

In addition to the gold announcement, EA has revealed two downloadable suit variants for PS3 and 360 owners that fork over their cash during the first two weeks of the games release. Gimmick yes, but if you are planning on buying the game, here is a little incentive to help pad their numbers.

If that isn’t enough, 360 owners in the US will also be granted access to an uber limited edition run of 1,000 “Dead Space Ultra Limited Edition” copies of the game complete with an art book, graphic novel, animated feature, and an exclusive illustrated lithograph signed by Australian graphic artist, Ben Templesmith.

Full press release available after the jump. Read more…

Dead Space Coming Out Earlier Than Expected

by Rangebar Merani on August 29, 2008

EA has announced today that their upcoming sci-fi/survival horror game Dead Space is launching a week earlier than planned. The 360 and PS3 versions were originally set for an October 31st launch, but will instead be dropping on the 21st in North America and on the 24th in Europe. The PC version will still be coming out on Halloween.

EA says they just finished earlier than expected, which is a great sign that the game is ready to scare the shit out of us!

EA Releases Dead Space: Downfall Trailer

by Demi Adejuyigbe on July 24, 2008

Dead Space is easily one of the highest anticipated games to be released this fall, and definitely the most anticipated horror game. The game’s atmosphere and premise brings chills to my spine, and the beautifully-made trailers don’t help in lowering my anticipation for EA’s latest.

However, not being content with a bone-quaking horror game itself, EA is planning to release an animated film based on the game titled Dead Space: Downfall.

Watch the teaser and continue reading after the jump. Read more…

EA CEO Interview Hints at Dead Space for Wii

by Shaun Hinklein on July 23, 2008

After an extensive interview with John Riccitiello, CEO of Electronic Arts, and Venture Beat, the stock market tycoon gave multiple hints at EA’s approach for the Nintendo Wii.

While most of his comments regarding the company were aimed at maintaining neutrality, he ended with stating Nintendo’s weak 1st-party line up giving way for 3rd-party domination. Having admitted to leaning towards Microsoft and Sony last year, will EA commit to Nintendo giving Wii users Dead Space? They’ll be a market when Dead Rising hits the market as well as the arsenal of already confirmed EA titles. Read more…
