Splinter Cell Delayed: Fisher Stealth Till 2009
by Wade Larson on July 24, 2008

Want to get your hands on Sam Fisher? Yea, you and a whole lotta terrorists. You’re all going to have to wait a bit longer, as Fisher has disappeared into the shadows of delay.
Ubisoft has pushed Splinter Cell: Conviction back to fiscal year 2009-2010, so don’t expect the spy any time this year. But then again, he could… be… RIGHT BEHIND YOU!
Ok, maybe not. But if he were, you’d already be dead.
Kotaku is also reporting via a string of internet sources that the voice of Sam Fisher, Michael Ironside, has been terminated. No, not like that. His body is not in a dumpster in a seedy alley behind the Ubisoft offices.
No, the word on the street (see: internet) is that Ironside got a little too big for his britches and has been removed for being difficult, self-centered and demanding. In otherwords, an actor. ZING!
In all seriousness, we CANNOT confirm if he has actually been removed from the project, but it might explain part of the delay.
Still, at this point all we have are precious few facts: The game has been delayed to 2009-2010. Everything else is as shadowy as Fisher himself.

by John Kershaw on June 27, 2008

I ran out of symbols.
The UK could soon be paying even more for its games if Microsoft’s predictions come true. Government plans to use two rating systems for games could cause an increase in price, as well as added delays.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII Delay Untrue - Official Statement Issued By Square Enix
by Chad Lakkis on June 20, 2008

We reported just two days ago that a Famitsu article was translated revealing among other things a statement made by FF Versus XIII director Tetsuya Nomura in which he claims that resources were reallocated from Final Fantasy Versus and asked to instead assist in the completion of Final Fantasy XIII.
This translation along with further comments made in the article lead many to believe the game would be delayed even further. However, the following response was issued by Square Enix regarding the matter:
“Reports that development for Final Fantasy Versus XIII is on hold are false … The truth of the situation is that when free, some staff from the Versus team have been helping with the XIII team on development of Final Fantasy XIII. Development for both titles is continuing as originally scheduled.”
It appears now that the game is still very much on schedule — the same schedule that has had us in the dark for a very long time now. Hopefully some light will be shed during this years E3.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII Still A Ways Off
by Geoff Haugan on June 18, 2008
Announcing games extremely early has always seemed unnecessary and a bit torturous for fans. When multiple Final Fantasy XIII titles were announced at E3 2006 gamers were understandably excited, but two years later little more is known about the games.
A recent issue of Famitsu reports that the wait looks set to continue for quite awhile.
At E3 2006 Square Enix surprised fans and gamers by announcing Final Fantasy XIII hot on the heels of Final Fantasy XII’s release. What’s more, it wasn’t just Final Fantasy XIII that was on the way, but also Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII.
While various trailers have surfaced and Agito was revealed as a mobile title, we’ve heard little more about the projects. Now, Famitsu has revealed that the majority of the Final Fantasy Versus XIII team has been pulled off the title and reassigned to Final Fantasy XIII itself. Agito XIII is also said to still be in early production and story development. Read more…

Our balls are already bluer than a depressed Sonic the Hedgehog, but that sultry tease Nintendo is going to make us wait even longer for the climax. In a kinda-sorta-last-minute announcement, the game’s been pushed back roughly a week in Japan and a whole month in the U.S. Read more…
