E3 09: Final Fantasy XIV Trailer
by Rangebar Merani on June 3, 2009 at 9:27 am
Even though Final Fantasy XIII is still not out yet, yesterday at Sony’s press conference Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy XIV was in the works for the PlayStation 3 and the PC. FFXIV will sort of be a sequel to FFXI in a sense that it’s another MMO and not a standard role-playing game. FFXI has been very popular over the last few years since first being released back in ‘04, so I can only imagine how well FFXIV will be received. Check out the trailer to see for yourself.
E3 09: Dead Rising 2 Trailer
by Dylan Duarte on June 3, 2009 at 12:23 amThere may be no actual gameplay footage, but the video looks awesome nonetheless. The first Dead Rising was great despite its flaws, so I’m pretty excited for this one. You’ll be playing Chuck Greene, a MotoCross champion who is likely fighting his way through Fortune City (Vegas knock-off) in search of his daughter Katey. Dead Rising 2 is scheduled to hit Xbox 360, PS3, and PC sometime this year.
E3 09: Cave Story Wii Trailer
by Dylan Duarte on June 3, 2009 at 12:05 amWhy have I never played Cave Story? Why, internet community? I promise I will now. Cave Story will be released on WiiWare “soon.”
E3 09: Modern Warfare 2 Gameplay Footage
by Rangebar Merani on June 2, 2009 at 2:10 pmYesterday during Microsoft’s pre-E3 press conference, Infinity Ward took the stage to finally show us some actual gameplay footage of Modern Warfare 2, coming out November 10. The game looks awesome and I’m even more excited about it after seeing this demo. Along with their demo, Infinity Ward announced that all map packs for Modern Warfare 2 will come out for the Xbox 360 first, but nothing was said about exclusivity. Check out the video.
Want More E3 09 Details? X-Play Talks to the ESA Tonight at 8PM EST on G4TV
by Chad Lakkis on October 23, 2008 at 3:18 pm
Breaking E3 09 news just hit our overflowing inbox here at Ripten. If the previous X-Play E3 09 announcement regarding the event’s return to its roots, as well as the LA Convention Center, had you reaching for your gaming stash (don’t pretend you have no clue what I mean), then prepare to light up again tonight at 8PM EST.
Tonight’s episode of X-Play on G4TV, welcomes the ESA, and promises answers to the following E3 09 questions available after the jump. Read more…
E3 2009 Returns to the LA Convention Center
by Chad Lakkis on October 20, 2008 at 5:26 pm
Extra extra, read all about it. G4TV’s X-Play has just announced the return of E3 to the LA Convention Center. In addition, they shared the following details:
- The event will run June 2nd-June 4th at the LA Convention Center.
- It still won’t be open to public, but ESA has plans to help increase attendance.
- Unemployed booth babes waiting by the phone will have to sit tight for now.
I guess this news is better than finding out the event would be held in an LA In-N-Out Burger, but there’s still a lot of questions left to be answered. Higher attendance numbers could be a good thing, assuming the event is set up properly, and as for booth babes — I won’t be holding my breath for anything remotely close to this.

E3 09 Open To Public? Sources Say Yes.
by Chad Lakkis on July 23, 2008 at 8:12 pm
Kotaku’s managing editor, Brian Crecente, states that he had several conversations with “well connected sources” at this years E3 — all of which believe that next years event will in fact be open to the public.
However, upon reaching out for an official comment from the ESA, he was given a very cookie cutter response, stating:
“The ESA is currently in the process of receiving feedback and will make an announcement about the 2009 E3 Media & Business Summit at an appropriate time.”
While it would be cool to get live reactions from gamers, in addition to our own hands-on impressions of the games, the biggest (albeit selfish) perk that I would look forward to, as a result of a policy change, would be a bigger/more impressive E3 experience.

E3 2009 Location Announced (Downsized Again)
by Chad Lakkis on July 22, 2008 at 1:44 am
If you want to be one of the lucky few invited, you had better rsvp soon. Word is the location only holds about 25-50 people, and that’s not including Barbie and her friends.
Of course this is a joke, but with the obvious downsizing of the event each year, I couldn’t resist. Tell me where you think the event should be held next year. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
