Sony Takes Scalpel to Twisted Metal in Europe

Europeans anxiously awaiting the arrival of Sweet Tooth, Dollface and the rest of the gruesome cast of Eat, Sleep, Play’sTwisted Metal got a one-two punch of bad news today.

First, the game has likely been delayed with David Jaffe commenting in a NeoGAF post that he “heard” that the title will be bumped to March. Ruins your Valentine’s Day, right?

Second, there have been some small cuts to the game. A little nip here, tuck there, but nothing that should ruin your fun with it. According to Jaffe, the notes from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe requested a number of minor modifications. None of the changes are on the level of what happened with Twisted Metal: Black, but if you put them side-by-side, you’ll notice a few missing frames from the end of particularly gory cutscenes. The gurney bombs feature live victims in the North American release, but corpses in Europe.

Jaffe assures fans that he was there for all the cuts and that the story in the European version is still as cohesive and compelling as it is in the stateside release.

Twisted Metal arrives on Playstation 3 here in the US on February 14, 2012. Fingers are still crossed for a simultaneous worldwide release. We’ll keep you posted once we know more.

Trine 2 PS3 European Release Delayed Yet Again

European players looking forward to getting Trine 2 via PSN, ATLUS and Frozenbyte sends their apologies. Trine 2 for the PS3 will be delayed, again.

In their announcement, ATLUS and Frozenbyte didn’t give a reason for the delay nor an expected date for release. I can only assume that they’re continuing to have problems with Sony’s Quality Assurance process.

We regret to announce that the European release of Trine 2 for PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system will be delayed a short while longer.

We sincerely apologize for the frustration this ongoing delay has caused our European fans, as it is a frustration we (ATLUS and Frozenbyte) also share. We assure the community that everything within our influence is being done to release Trine 2 for PAL PS3 system users as soon as possible, and we humbly ask for our fans’ continued patience and understanding.

Zelda 25th Anniversary 3DS Headed To Europe

An awesome new Zelda themed 3DS is headed to Europe in honor of the 25th Anniversary of the franchise. This amazing new piece of hardware will come bundled with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and is due to come out on November 25th, 2011. Sadly, there is no word on a North American release at this time.

The Last Story And Pandora’s Tower Are Coming To Europe In 2012

Nintendo of Europe has revealed that The Last Story and Pandora’s Tower will be arriving in Europe sometime in 2012. As you may recall these two titles are part of Operation Rainfall, the fan movement to get these two titles plus Xenoblade Chronicles published in North America.

With all three titles coming to Europe, and thus being translated in English, one would think that the cost to bring them to American soil would be minimal. However Nintendo fans in North America can still beg for the games.

Limbo Release Date Revealed for the PS3, PC

It was announced and confirmed last week that the indie hit would release for the PS3 and PC. Now developer Playdead has announced release dates for both of these versions of Limbo.

Limbo will be available for the PS3 in North America on July 19th and in Europe on the 20th. The PC version is set to release worldwide on the 2nd of August.

Resistance 3 Contest Offers Chance to “Get Your Head In The Game”

How cool would it be to have your face in a video game? Pretty damn cool, right? That’s what I thought. Insomniac Games is allowing interested fans to enter a contest that will forever bind their digital likeness to the Resistance franchise.

The contest, which runs until March 3rd, 2011, aims to find two individuals to lend their likenesses to a couple of human survivors who are fighting off the Chimera on a war-torn Earth. Winners will receive an all expenses paid trip to San Diego for them and a guest and then spend a day with the Resistance team getting their likeness implemented into the new title.

For a chance to win, go to the Official Contest Page and upload a photo of yourself looking all Resistancey. Ok, I know that isn’t a word, but you know what the hell I mean. Do something interesting and Resistance related in the picture, full cosplay is probably going to be your best bet here. You’ll also need to explain why you deserve to be a Resistance survivor. It would probably help to be handy with a pen and paper.

Ten finalists will be selected and showcased all over Europe, as well as the Playstation Blog until Insomniac Games makes the final decision on the two winners. I can’t wait to see your face when Resistance 3 hits store shelves. Unless you’re ugly, then I’d rather not.

Nintendo to Ship 900,000 3DS Units in Europe – Aiming for 5m Sales in Year One

Nintendo is shipping an estimated 900,000 initial 3DS units into Europe during the first three weeks of its initial launch according to MCV.

The next-gen handheld will then aim to sell an astounding 4.5-5 million units of the 3D handheld in the first year of sales, however Nintendo has offered no comments on these sales figures. The new handheld has been under wraps for much of its development phase before just recently undergoing public press events the world over.

A number of publishers and developers are already on board to support the platform and it’s shaping up to be one of the year’s most awaited releases.

Nintendo: ‘Refer to Retailers’ for European 3DS Price

Nintendo have completely avoided telling us the RRP of the 3DS in Europe, instead telling people to “refer to retailers”.

Satoru Shibata told excited Nintendo fans to find out the price by themselves, rather than do the decent thing and tell us the RRP of the unit. Although it’s hard to find prices just yet, UK retailer HMV has just set the price at £229.99, a stupidly high price compared to the $250 American RRP.

GAME aren’t sure yet: “We’re still working it out – it may not be announced until tomorrow,” said a GAME spokesperson.

Hopefully most retailers will keep it less than £200 in the UK, but we can’t be sure yet.

Nintendo 3DS Gets A European Release Date

DC Universe Online Adding More Servers to Meet “Overwhelming” EU Demand

Sony Online Entertainment has to announced today they will be adding more servers to meet the demands of European players who received the game this week.

The official statement from the official DC Universe Online Facebook page:

To our EU Customers. We are extremely excited so many of you are enjoying DCUO! Additional server capacity for you folks is being added as fast as possible. Today we are opening up new EU servers that are based in our US Data Center. In the very near future we will add additional servers in our EU based data center. Once that happens, we will move the servers over to that facility. We apologize for any inconvenience, and doing our best to respond to this overwhelming demand.

Great news for the for inspired MMO that hopes to break the console barrier.

Final Fantasy Type-0 Trademarked In Europe

Square Enix recently trademarked “Final Fantasy Type 0″ in Europe according to Siliconera. No real tidbits of information has surfaced about the game, however aside from the title, Square-Enix also Trademarked a logo with some kind of Kanji.

Though it’s not particularly clear what this product will be, Square-Enix is hosting an upcoming event where they are expected to announce some new titles. I’m sure we’ll hear more information about “Type-0″ then, or at least get some kind of convoluted trailer that explains nothing. Either way, more Final Fantasy is coming. Hooray?

Official PlayStation App Announced for Android and iPhone

PlayStation gamers and Smartphone users rejoice – an official PlayStation App was announced today on the EU PlayStation Blog which will be available to iPhone and Android smartphones.

The app will be available to download for iPhone and iPod Touch with OS 4 and above, and Android compatible handsets with a minimum of OS 1.6.

Mass Effect 2 Demo Comes to PSN Next Week

PlayStation 3 owners will get their first look at Mass Effect 2 as the demo hits North America and Europe. Dated for December 21st for North America and the 22nd for Europe the demo arrives just in time for the hollidays.

No details have been given on whether or how this will differ from the Xbox 360′s demo.

Two Worlds II Goes Platinum In Europe After Only Three Weeks

Today, TopWare interactive has announced that Two Worlds II has already sold over a million copies in Europe. It looks as if the little sequel that could – actually has.

Take THAT naysayers. We told you Two Worlds II wasn’t going to suck – and now the Europeans love it.

Happy Holidays from TopWare Interactive! We’re proud to announce that Two Worlds II, the major turnaround sequel of the year, has recently broken the one million unit sales mark in Europe after just three weeks on the store shelves. And, the momentum doesn’t appear to be slowing. More than sixty magazines have awarded or reviewed the game as being exceptional, and player feedback has been tremendous as well.

As many know, the North American, Irish and UK release of the next installment in the Two Worlds franchise has been pushed back to January 25 ^th, 2011. Contrary to an earlier December press release in Europe by TopWare’s publishing partner: South Peak Games, has relinquished distribution rights in Ireland and the UK to TopWare in order to focus on their North American marketing campaign. The rights were not purchased back by TopWare, as was previously reported.

TopWare Interactive’s, managing director, James Seaman, had this to say: “Both TopWare and South Peak want our game to get the attention it deserves. South Peak wants to give the North American market 100% of their attention, and we’re happy we were able to take some of the weight off their shoulders. Two Worlds II really is a labor of love, and after seeing how far the game has come, the fans are going to be blown away in January!”

TopWare also plans to open a UK office within the next six months that will support the press and all of the retail community in a positive and comprehensive fashion.

Kirby’s Epic Yarn Coming to Europe in February

Nintendo have finally announced the European release date for Kirby’s Epic Yarn: February 25.

Seriously, Nintendo? This is like the bad old days of Nintendo releases in Europe. Remember when it took Animal Crossing for GameCube two years to come to Europe?

As much as I love Kirby, and the look of this game, Nintendo continue to infuriate with their release schedules. This is 2010- games come out worldwide now, in case nobody at Nintendo had noticed.

Castle Crashers PSN Coming To Europe and Australia Tomorrow

It’s about time. Us filthy Americans and those pesky Asians have enjoyed the goodness of Castle Crashers on PSN for far too long by ourselves!! Starting tomorrow, all of Europe and the land down under can enjoy CC PSN as well!!

Here’s the scoop from The Behemoth:

This is the day all the mighty knights of the various nations of Europe may begin their Castle Crashing quests on PlayStation Network. Australia can come too. The price to begin the adventure shall be 13.99 Euromonies or the roughly equivalent amount of Australiodollars or GreatBritainBucks.

We’ll be celebrating on the 3rd, stop by for some cake! (and contests!?)

This leaves us finishing up submission with only Japan, until the Whole World is rescuing Princesses and fighting sock puppet wielding dragons together as one.

You know what that means!? European version!!

Yes, they should play this in Ikea.

Super Mario All-Stars: 25th Anniversary Announced for Europe – Nothing for North America Yet

The 25th Anniversary special-edition Super Mario All-Stars for the Wii has been confirmed for Europe - nothing on the North American version yet.

It doesn’t seem different from the Japanese version annouced last month and will include a Wii disc containing the SNES versions of Super Marios Bros. 1 -3 and The Lost Levels, a history book and a CD with selections from the series.

The 25th Anniversary special-edition Super mario All-stars is scheduled for a December 3rd European release.

Nintendo 3DS Launch Details Announced

Nintendo has concluded a special 3DS media event in Japan with details on the upcoming 3DS launch. The Nintendo 3DS will launch in Japan on February 26, 2011 for a price of 25,000 yen ($298.62 USD). The portable unit will be available in two colors: Aqua Blue and Cosmo Black. All units will be bundled with a 2GB SD card and an exclusive charging stand.

The 3DS will be available in North America and Europe in March 2011. No price for these regions was given.

New DSi XL Colours Coming to Europe October 8

Nintendo of Europe have revealed that the new colours for the DSi XL, shown above, will be coming to Europe on October 8.

Since its European debut in March 2010, as part of the Nintendo DS range, the Nintendo DSi XL has sold over 3.6 million pieces of hardware globally, taking the total number of the Nintendo DS range of handheld systems to over 132 million systems. In addition to the stylish wine red and dark brown systems still available in stores, players will be given a wider choice of colours to choose from, as yellow, green and blue join the offerings!

I think they’re three of the nicest colours we’ve seen from Nintendo consoles, although I do still have a soft spot for the lovely red colour that was introduced for DSi recently. What do you think? Will you be investing in one, or waiting for the 3DS? Let us know in the comments.

Kinect Coming to Europe November 10

Microsoft have announced that their motion-sensing camera device, Kinect, will be coming to European, African and Middle Eastern shores on November 10.

“We’re already seeing a high level of anticipation in Europe with sales of the Kinect ready Xbox 360 250GB creating an all-time record weekly market share,” said Chris Lewis, vice president of interactive entertainment business at Microsoft Europe.

“When you look at what we are bringing to the market this year, with the magic of Kinect, alongside our blockbuster line-up of games, including the biggest game for 2010, Halo: Reach, we’re confident that Xbox 360 has something for all the family and will be the gaming and entertainment console of 2010 and beyond.”

Optimistic, given that UK retailers were reporting not one moth ago that Kinect pre-orders were “very low”. I suppose we’ll see after November 10 whether the price was too high or not (hint: it’s too high).
