Facebreaker is a new boxing game from EA sports. Normally when I think of an EA sports game, I think of a game where they strive to get a realistic look and feel. I think of Madden and Fight Night and how the designers try to make the environments and characters as real as possible. Dave Chappelle once said, “Nobody likes getting their ass beat to a soundtrack.” Dave never played FaceBreaker. EA’s arcade-style boxing game’s soundtrack has been announced, and it’s full of Grateful Dead and Jack Johnson. You know — good, mellow stuff.
OK, I lied. The FaceBreaker soundtrack contains tunes with such auspicious names as “Sucker Punch,” “Knock Me Down,” and “Girl Fight.” How appropriate.

New Game Releases: 9/1-9/7

Labor Day week officially starts off the fall gaming season with some high anticipated releases such as FaceBreaker, Infinite Undiscovery, Mercenaries 2 and, of course, Wiil Wright’s Spore. One of the most surprising, and delightful, releases for me this week is the classic SNES RPG, Super Mario RPG for the Virtual Console.
All I got to say is wow, too much gaming already this past month, and with even more hit titles coming out in the next few weeks and months, it looks like we’re all gonna be broke. Read more…

Playable demos for Madden NFL 09 and Facebreaker have hit Xbox Live and the Playstation Network today.
Madden NFL 09 is due to hit stores on August 12 and Facebreaker just a few weeks later on September 5.

If you were ever a fan of the arcade boxing game that first hit the Dreamcast back in 2000, Ready to Rumble, you’ll want to check out EA Sport’s newest IP in five years, FaceBreaker. Created by EA Canada, the same team that developed Fight Night Round 3, FaceBreaker is an arcade boxing game with eye-popping graphics, extremely in-depth gameplay, and a fun presentation overall.
When I first got my hands on FaceBreaker, it didn’t take me too long to realize that this is a real boxing game. Don’t be fooled by its looks, because there is a lot of strategy to mastering the gameplay mechanics. Read more…
