Mortal Kombat Online Won’t Require Kombat Pass Until PS Store is Back

Due to obvious issues regarding the Playstation Network and Mortal Kombat 9‘s Kombat Pass, until the Playstation Store is up and working again (next week hopefully) you will able to play without one.

Due to the recent PSN outage, Mortal Kombat for PS3 will now be playable online without need for the Kombat Pass. This is a temporary solution that will only be available while Playstation Store is unavailable. Once PlayStation Store is back up, users will be able to enter the Kombat Pass code included with Mortal Kombat or purchase a Kombat Pass for $9.99.

If you have good timing and range, you can beat it. The AI can’t handle cross-over jumps.

1) Goro – You should focus on building your meter with Goro. He taunts a lot so you get a lot of free chances to do damage. Jump to avoid the Ground Pound he does and then counter.
2) Kintaro – Use your X-ray on Kintaro, but watch out because Kintaro has crazy air grabs, and fireballs that can mess you up. If he jumps up out of the screen, jump diagonally away.
3) Mileena – She has some crazy fast attacks; you’ll want to block and be aware of her quickness and try to find openings. Try to use X-ray on her and finish her quickly.
4) Shao Kahn – If you stay just out of range of this guy, you can beat him. As you can see, I whiff a lot with trying to use the spear and instead punch nothing but air. But my timing was on point, and I was practicing jumping circles around him.

FINISH HIM! – Mortal Kombat Legacy Trailer Brings The Pain

Warner Bros. has just sent out a teaser for its upcoming web series. On April 12th, you can start catching episodes of Mortal Kombat: Legacy on Machinima.com and their YouTube channel.

It’s really cool to see Mortal Kombat back in full force. A new movie has been rumored for years, so this is the closest thing to a live action movie that we will get for awhile. Big props to everyone that worked on the series!

New Mortal Kombat Movie Looks :D

While it was briefly rumored that this had something to do with E3, as all things are at this time of the year, these 8 minutes of gritty glory are actually a scene from the reboot of the Mortal Kombat movie franchise. It should have been a clue to most people that this was more than a fan movie or any other option since it contains both Michael Jai White and Jeri Ryan who, last I checked, are real movie actors.

I’ve seen some foot stomping and brow furrowing over it being a more realistic take on the Mortal Kombat universe, but in our post-Dark Knight world it isn’t exactly surprising. There is a difference between making something dark and realistic and this though, becuase this new Mortal Kombat looks like a straight up blood-soaked exploitation film, so I’ll allow it. Plus if this ends up being the most violent thing since the Brusilov Offensive, or Machine Girl if you don’t like historical references, I doubt anybody will be complaining about Baraka having hair or Jax wearing a suit.

This short was directed by Kevin Tancheron who notably directed that awful Fame remake from last year. Not exactly the kind of background I would expect, but it looks like he has an eye for maiming. Some fatalities probably would have made Fame much more interesting. I couldn’t find any other information on it, other than the Mortal Kombat reboot is due out in theaters in 2013. Considering the level of polish shown here, that seems like way too long.

Don’t Worry, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe Fatalities Confirmed!

The biggest mistake that the creators of Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe could have made, no fatalities, may have been avoided. Gamespot had a interview with the creator of MK, Ed Boon.

GS: Have you made any more headway on the fatality versus finishing moves?

EB: Yes we have. All of the MK characters and all of the DC villains will have fatalities. The DC heroes who don’t kill that often will have brutalities that will function just like fatalities but don’t actually kill the opponent.

My guess is that the fatalities that the DC heroes do could be similar to Liu Kang’s finisher from the first Mortal Kombat game were he performed a flip with a giant uppercut, avoiding any blood or guts. Hopefully this time around with a little more creativity.

Either way, Scorpion will be able to burn The Flash like the b*tch he is.
