First 4 Figures Link On Epona Pre-Orders Now Live

High-end figure manufacturer First 4 Figures has just put both of their Link On Epona figures up for pre-order. As with the other figures in the Zelda: Twilight Princess line from First 4 Figures there is a regular version and an exclusive version.

The regular version, pictured above, measures 17 inches tall and 16 inches wide. It will be limited to 1,500 pieces worldwide and costs $424.99 USD.

The exclusive version will be the same size but will feature a faux bronze finish. The exclusive version will be limited to 500 pieces worldwide and costs $449.99 USD. Many fans are complaining that Link’s face looks bad on the exclusive version and First 4 Figures has already stated that they are looking into painting Link’s eyes due to the fan request (though the pictures so far don’t show that).

First 4 Figures has also given out two coupon codes for those that are interested. Until October 20th, 2011 those that are interested can use the coupon code LPE36C to save $25.00 off the regular version or K2AJ3H to save $30.00 off the exclusive version.

Link Riding Epona Coming From First 4 Figures

High-end figure manufacturer First 4 Figures has just released a teaser for their next product in the Zelda: Twilight Princess line. Link on Epona will be available to preorder starting September 20th, 2011 on First4Figures.com. This will not be 1/4 scale like the others in the Twilight Princess series, but will be about the size of the Zelda: Ocarina of Time Link figures they have produced. Additionally First 4 Figures has mentioned that Link Riding Epona will be the heaviest figure they have produced.

I need some cash fast!

First 4 Figures, the manufacturer of these amazing statues, has just released several production pictures of their upcoming Dark Link figure. Dark Link is available in two versions, standard and Exclusive. The standard version is bare bones, costs $169.99, and is limited to 2,500 pieces. The Exclusive version has eyes and a base that will light up, costs $189.99, and is limited to 725 pieces.

Is First 4 Figures Hinting At Pokémon Figures?

First 4 Figures, the company that has been making high-end gaming figures, may be hinting at Pokémon figures coming in the future. The official Facebook and Twitter pages for First 4 Figures just asked fans the following question:

“Question: So, which are your favorite Pokemon?”

While this proves nothing, it sure makes fans wonder if the company has any interest in making Pokémon related figures or if they are just caught up in the post release hype from Pokémon Black and White on the Nintendo DS.

Dark Link Now Available For Pre-order From First 4 Figures

Last week RipTen reported that high-end figure manufacture First 4 Figures had put up a teaser for their new Dark Link figure. Well today pre-orders went live and more details and pictures of the magnificent figure have been revealed.

First 4 Figures is offering the figure in two forms, standard and Exclusive. The standard Dark Link figure will measure in at 12 inches tall and 9 inches wide. Dark Link will be in scale with all the other figures in the Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask lines from First 4 Figures. This standard version will be limited to 2,500 pieces worldwide and is currently being sold on First4Figures.com for $169.99.

The Exclusive version of Dark Link is only available from First4Figures.com. It is the same size as the standard version, but it has light up red eyes and four lights in the base that slowly pulse to give the water and eerie shimmering effect. This Exclusive version of Dark Link is limited to 500 pieces worldwide and is selling for $189.99 on First4Figures.com.

Dark Link Figure Coming From First 4 Figures

High-end figure manufacturer First 4 Figures has just posted a teaser image for their latest upcoming figure from The Legend of Zelda series. Dark Link will go up for pre-order on 2/1/2011. More information such as price and more pictures will also be revealed on that day. Nintendo and Zelda fans should stay tuned for further information!

UPDATE:

ZeldaUniverse.net also has some exclusive new information on this figure. For starters the Dark Link figure will be about 12 inches tall and 9 inches wide. There will also be two versions of the figure. A standard version and a version that is exclusive to First4Figures.com. No word on the exact difference with the exclusive version but it is likely that this version will have red LED eyes.

One more detail is that since there is no official artwork of Dark Link, First 4 Figures was able to create their own pose for the character which Nintendo has approved!

Wolf Link And Midna Figures Now Available For Pre-Order

Pre-orders have just gone live for the Wolf Link and Midna figures from high-end figure manufacturer First 4 Figures. The Wolf Link and Midna figures are made at 1/4 scale and are 15 inches tall and 15.5 inches long.

First 4 Figures has two versions of this figure available for pre-order. In the standard version Midna’s hair is just a solid piece of the figure. The exclusive version of the figure, sold only on First4Figures.com, has the ability to have Midna’s hair light up. The standard version is being sold for $329.99 USD and the exclusive version is going for $349.99 USD. Both version of the figures are limited to 350 pieces world wide making it a must have for the die hard Zelda fan.

Wolf Link And Midna Figure Coming From First 4 Figures

High-end figure manufacture First 4 Figures has just revealed that the second figure their “Master Arts” range of 1/4 scale Zelda: Twilight Princess line will be Midna and Wolf Link. Preorders for this new figure will begin Tuesday November 30th.

Further details about the figure have been given to ZeldaUniverse.net. They have been told that the figure will be approximately 15 inches long and 15 inches tall. There will also be an exclusive version of the figure only available from First4Figures.com. It has also been revealed that it won’t be possible to remove Midna from Wolf Link’s back.

Many people know that I’m a big Nintendo Fanboy and that I collect Nintendo games, goods, memorabilia, and more. If it says Nintendo on it, and it’s official, I want it. That’s what the Nintendo Collectors Journal is for. From this point on I’ll be documenting all the exciting Nintendo items I gather on my travels. Last week I finally received both of my Zant figures from high-end figure manufacturer First 4 Figures. First 4 Figures has been making several video game related figures from the Zelda, Metroid, and Sonic series of games. Both of these Zant figures have the honor of being the first in the 1/4 Scale The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess line.

The Regular Zant figure measure in at approximately 21 inches high. The tongue is removable and when removed reveals part of Zant’s face. This tongue pieces stays attached via a magnet and the inside of the tongue piece is padded as to not harm to the figure itself. This figure also has a real cloth robe (not the pants) which can glow in the dark. The base of the figure can also glow in the dark. The Regular Zant figure is limited to 750 pieces worldwide and costs $329.99 USD on First4Figures.com. My Regular Zant figure is #11 out of 750.

The Zant Exclusive figure has all the features of the Regular Zant figure and more. This version comes with two heads that are completely swappable. The first head is virtually identical to the one on the Regular Zant figure, removable tongue and all. The second head is Zant’s head completely without the helmet. This figure also is made with a real cloth robe. The base, and the robe, also both glow in the dark. The Exclusive Zant figure can only be found on First4Figures.com and is limited to 250 pieces worldwide with a cost of $349.99 USD. My Zant Exclusive is #11 out of 250.

First 4 Figures has been doing an amazing job with all their products. These Zant figures are no exception and should, at the very least, be checked out by any Nintendo or Zelda fan. Metroid Prime Gunship Now Available For Pre-order

As reported last week, high-end figure manufacturer First 4 Figures has just launched pre-orders for their newest figure: the Metroid Prime Gunship. This ship is a replica of the one Samus uses in the original Metroid Prime game.

The Metroid Prime Gunship is 12 inches long and will cost $299.99 USD. The figure comes with several LEDs and can be tilted in several different ways due to the swivel joint that attaches the ship to its base. This figure is limited to 750 pieces worldwide and is currently scheduled to ship Q2 2011.

The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess Zant Figure Production Photos

Today the high-end figure company, First 4 Figures, has released several production photos of their two new The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Zant figures. These two Zant figures first went up for preorder in September 2009 and should finally be shipping in the near future.

The regular Zant figure is 21 inches tall making it ¼ scale. He has real cloth clothing that glows in the dark and has a removable tongue piece on his helmet that reveals a portion of his face. This version of the Figure is limited to 750 pieces and costs $329.99.

The Zant Exclusive version, only available on the First 4 Figures website, is the same as the regular version except that it comes with the regular version of Zant’s head, as well as a completely unmasked head. The owner can then choose which head they want their Zant figure to have and can swap them out at any time. This exclusive version is limited to 250 pieces and costs $349.99.

Sonic Gets Back to His Roots with New Mini-Figures

With the launch of the Dreamcast and its flagship title, Sonic Adventure, SEGA introduced a new version of its longstanding mascot, Sonic the Hedgehog, to the masses. In place of the shorter, chubbier hero stood a sleeker design, one which sported longer limbs, thinner proportions, longer quills, and perhaps most startling of all, a pair of green eyes which really stood out.

While some may not have cared for the change at first, most seemed ready to accept it; after all, what cartoon character hasn’t changed his or her appearance over time? Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, and even Sonic’s old rival Mario had done so; why should Sonic be any different?

But as time wore on and a perceived drop in quality of the Blue Blur’s games became more and more evident, the leaner, green-eyed Sonic came to be seen by some as a poster-boy for the troubles which they felt plagued the series. “Green must go” would be a generalized summation of the thought that Sonic must return to the appearance he held through his triumphant Genesis and Game Gear days, and even through his rare Saturn roles.

In fact, so passionate are some fans in this train of thought that they formed a petition requesting that SEGA include the classic version of Sonic in their upcoming title, Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 (though admittedly not at the expense of the new Sonic, but as an alternate choice). Their reasoning? It’s not truly “retro” if they use the newer design:

We believe that the addition of the modern Sonic design does not make sense in terms of the continuity – it would be illogical to change the design of the main character in an immediate sequel to this game. We believe that it is a very good idea to make a retro Sonic game, but without the original design, this might as well be Sonic Advance 4 or Sonic Rush 3; whilst the Sonic Advance and Rush series were games that many people enjoyed, but they were not retro.

While so far, it seems SEGA has not caved in to the demands of this contingent, it seems that there is another which recognizes the nostalgic value of Sonic’s formative years.

First 4 Figures has been catering to the oldschool Sonic fan recently with the release of statues and figures which depict the likes of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles as they were when they first hit the scene during the 16-bit era. And now, they’ve revealed a new package of mini-figures which manage to strap Time Stones to even more characters and throw them off a cliff (if you get the reference, then you know that means it in a good way).

Though originally slated for a September release, First 4 Figures revealed to SEGA’s Sonic City Blognik that a six-pack of two-inch figures is now available on their website.

Crafted by Goran Sadojevich, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles appear alongside new retro additions Amy Rose (in her Sonic the Hedgehog CD form), a menacing Metal Sonic to snatch her away, and a mighty yellow Super Sonic (sans his contemporary red eyes, of course) to give chase (or join him in creating anarchy, if you favor the European comics). First 4 Figures notes:

Warning we can’t guarantee Metal Sonic won’t somehow betray you, lock you up and then get all crazy about how he is the real Sonic, or that he won’t randomly turn red and become a monstrous killing machine. Sorry, but that’s not part of the product guarantee.

Sometimes, those are the risks you take.

All of these can be had for $29.99, which comes out to about $5 a figure, which is a pretty decent price in today’s market.

Of course, these figures may not be for everyone. In fact, one can pretty much safely say that these are targeting a niche, hardcore demographic of Sonic fans. But if you decide you’re in the market for such a figure, but don’t care about whether it’s oldschool or not, toy company Jazwares has been making a number of different Sonic toys for a little while now.

Jazwares’ products come in a variety of sizes and materials, and cover generic Sonic fare, as well as more specific games such as Sonic Unleashed, Sonic and the Black Knight, and the recent racing game Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing, whose line is scheduled to receive some non-Sonic characters, including AiAi from Super Monkey Ball, Beat from Jet Set Radio, and Amigo from Samba de Amigo.

They’ve also released radio-controlled race cars based on the racing title, which are good for chasing pets around, or just running up and down the driveway. Check it out:

New or old, it looks like all types of Sonic fans will have plenty of choices when it comes to plastic portrayals, whether for play or display.

This week I want to focus on a very special piece that I just received. It’s a replica of Samus Aran’s Gunship from Metroid Prime 2 Echoes. This figure can be purchased from www.first4figures.com for $299.99 USD and is limited to 750 pieces worldwide. Mine is number 10 out of 750.

This figure is especially nice because it can light up. The ships front window and reverse thrusters look fantastic when lit. The base also has two of the eight lights light up at once and flash around in a circle for a very nice effect. Collectors who purchase this figure can also tilt the ship at different angles on the base due to the swivel joint that connects the base to the ship.

First 4 Figures has also done several other great figures from the Metroid Prime series as well as many from The Legend of Zelda and Sonic The Hedgehog games. Being the Nintendo collector that I am, I’m always sure to pick up the latest in the Metroid and Zelda lines. Once again I am blown away by the quality of their products.

Samus Aran Phazon Suit Figure
