Gamezine have dug up a forum post by an allegedly trustworthy member of the GTPlanet community, a large Gran Turismo forum and website. There are some cryptic whisperings on the forum post which you can see after the jump, as well as their interpretations, which include such things as a 2009 release, a track editor, and over 600 cars and 90+ tracks.

Forum post:

There are many winds blowing in the air right now, and every one of them is telling its own tale.

First wind whispers that final reunion will happen thirty nights before twelve months pass and that all winds from the whole world will reunite in the same moment for the first time.

Second wind says there will be more than half of dozen hundreds birds flying in the beginning of the reunion on almost eight dozen of skypaths, and some of the birds will come from the past reunion just resembling the looks of the newborn birds.

Third tale says that for the first time ever skypaths will not be just solid and already known but that new skypaths will be built by birdtamers from the parts of existing skypaths.

Fourth wind is talking that birdtamers will reunite in numbers greater than ever and will be granted with ability to talk to each other, make guilds and alliances with undisputed freedom.

Fifth wind says that reunion will happen in two forms, one greater than other and birdtamers will have freedom to decide which reunion they will attend. Greater reunion will ask for great sacrifice to be made in order to get all present and future treasures without new sacrifices needed, while smaller reunion will come in form already known, asking for more sacrifices if future treasures catches the eyes of the birdtamers.

Sixth wind is telling the tale about different reunion but almost the same as known one, smaller only for the eyes of those who do not want to see it in its whole glory. That different reunion will not happen in the realm same as the known one, but in the different realm which still has not been uncovered to the birdtamers. That realm will resemble realm already known but it will be divine new and made in the image of it.

All those birds, skypaths and birdtamers from all realms will unite for the Feast. And as it is already known, it will be the Feast of the Gods.

What it might mean:

# Worldwide release within the next 12 months, possibly December 1st 2009.
# 600+ cars, 96 tracks with remakes from GT4.
# Track editor splicing routes from existing tracks.
# Voice chat, party mode, clan support.
# Two releases, one SKU which gives you access to all future DLC, and another cheaper option that will let you purchase DLC separately.
# GT mobile on PSP (or PC).

GTPlanet report that Sony’s chief executive in Southern Europe, James Armstrong, has stated that the release of Gran Turismo 5, the latest installment of the acclaimed series, is set for Christmas ‘09. In a statement to Spainish newspaper El Financiero, Armstrong said that he is in the process of developing “the new version of Gran Turismo, which will arrive at Christmas [2009].” He also mentions a new “thriller” game, adding “the player may be designing their own history.” A little early to speculate on that, perhaps.

Either way, it looks like Gran Turismo 5 is set for next winter, in time for the Christmas rush. Makes sense; it is one of the PlayStation’s bigger franchises, after all. The prestige around the series means that GT5 is certain to be highly realistic and a treat for fans of the series, so whenever it comes out, I’m sure plenty of people will be happy. Any thoughts? Will you be buying the game on release? Let us know in the comments.

The Playstation blog reports that a Gran Turismo 5: Prologue update has been released, ready for download right now. The update brings some performance updates as well as three shiny new cars. While the cars cost up to a million credits in-game, for those of us in real life the update is completely free. Hit the jump for details on the four-wheeled boxes of metal.

Firstly, the “GT by Citroen”. Based on a collaborative effort between Polyphony Digital, the folks who make Gran Turismo, and Citroen, the French car manufacturer. It’ll cost a million credits.

The Ferrari California is the second new motor vehicle. Now that’s what I call red. This one’s just 300,000 credits.

Lastly, the Lotus Evora, pictured at the top of the page. My personal favourite, so I’m glad it’s only 100,000 credits.

Here’s the list of gameplay tweaks:

Changes to the penalty system; specifically, during Time Trial events, speed penalties have been removed, and instead incurring such a penalty now invalidates the lap time for that particular lap. Race events are also being updated, with tweaked difficulty levels and increased earnings for winning a top spot. Additionally, improved responsiveness when using the wireless controller, and improved sound volume balance for sound effects and music for a better racing experience. Drift Trial races have also been changed to feature a rolling start.

So you like driving games, eh? Well, then you’ll probably find the images here are causing a strange sensation deep inside you. That, my friend, is want.

You see, this slick little aracade-style setup is the ultimate in Grand Turismo 5 Prologue gaming. It comes will all the extras and features you could ever want for a racing game except for tires and lots of open road.

A 40 inch screen flanked by a surround-sound set up is hooked up to a built-in PS3 with Logitech G25 wheel including pedals. Throw in a bucket seat and wrap the whole thing in a slick Plexiglas case and you’ve got yourself the most expensive gaming set up you can buy for a game that isn’t even out.

But you can be sure that when the game drops, this will be on every racers wish list. Right up there with a 2009 (insert fancy car name here). And it costs a measly $15,000!… which is considerably more than my 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Sierra. I wonder why that’s not in GT5?

Now all they need to do is hook up a toaster to drop rubber bands into and you’ll even be able to smell the burning rubber! Now that’s immersion.

Check our more images after the jump.
